CDW63
Guys, I am wanting to lower the car (1 in to 1.5 in), for handling and looks. I have a quote from a Ford dealer in my area to do the FRPP package (struts, springs, sway bars) for $1800 installed. But I am wondering if it might be better to go with a Steeda suspension package or just build my own with Tokico struts and BMR/Steeda springs. sway bars? Any advice or pics from lowered GT 500's would be appreciated. Thanks, Craig
6-Speed
$1800 is not a bad price for having all that installed, considering the FRPP handling package alone is $1575 at one of the sponsoring vendors on this site. Which local dealer gave you that quote? The only comments I have is that the FRPP dampers are on the expensive side relative to a set of Tokico D-specs, which IMO are better shocks and an adjustable panhard bar would allow you to re-center the rearend after the car is lowered. They are listed as a Ford Racing Dealer/Distributor, so I gave them a call.

However, they quoted me nearly $300 labor for installing a FRPP CAI - I said forget it, I can do it myself.

I am trying to decide on the C&L CAI with SCT (dyno tune) or FRPP CAI with the Ford program.

mach1fever
If I am not mistaken the frpp handling pac used the tocico's. Also, I have seen and ridden in Vic's car and it looks/handles amazing. Roger

I am trying to decide on the C&L CAI with SCT (dyno tune) or FRPP CAI with the Ford program. No I have not purchased it yet. As long as I have been reading and contributing to this and other GT500 sites, I have yet to come across a dyno pull of the FRPP CAI with the Procal tune. FRPP claims 40 more horses but that's at the flywheel. You most likely can get more power with another aftermarket tune or a custom tune. However FRPP does alot of testing of the Procal tune and claims it is street legal in 50 states - whatever that means. Your choice of CAI/tune should depend on your ultimate goals with the car. I wish to boost the performance of my car up to the level of the KR and keep as many aftermarket mods FRPP. Others desire more performance as they have other goals in mind. FYI - the Procal tuner is very limited in capability; you will not be able to adjust settings such as gear ratio, tire size, rev limiter, etc. using the Procal that you can with SCT or the Predator. However, I believe you can get a SCT tune from VMP that will work with the FRPP CAI and offer more performance than what is achievable with the Procal tune. Thanks for the explanation, I am also trying to just stay with FRPP parts with the Shelby if possible. Also for clarification, Sanderson called me back today and told me the FR3 handling package installed would be $2500 not $1800 . So I have a call out to Five Star Ford to get a FR3 install quote. I am tempted to order Tokico adjustable shocks and BMR or Steeda springs and have an Indy garage do the install.

I kind of expected the price would go up on you once you pursued it further, considering the labor quote I received for the CAI install from Sanderson. ShelbySnake had some suspension/gears work done by SVC Motorsports in Scottsdale that he was pleased with and a neighbor of mine had some suspension mods done to his Roush 427 by Performance Solutions that he was very pleased with. I have been very happy with it. I haven't seen the Steeda kit. http://forum.teamshelby.com/forums/index.p...c=12593&hl= Gary

FWIW, I had my Lightning tuned at Performance Solutions and could not have been happier. Many Lighting and Cobra owners use them. I have heard some negative things about SVC and never take your car to AMP.
