Tokico D-Spec

Recommended Posts

IMHO...The basic principles of suspension geomerty dictate that firm suspension delivers more control, and softer suspension surrenders that.

There must be a sliding scale between the two where you can find a comfort zone, the Tokico Ds are a good selection for that adjustability. I used Tokicos on my Marauders, a much larger and heavier automobile.

Any of you running the Tokico D-Specs? Just wondering what your impressions were. I think my cars ride is a little on the harsh side and I'm wondering if I can soften it up a little with out sacrificing handling.

I have them installed, you can soften up the ride and set to firmest position, its pretty much back to stock ride. I installed them for the drags and road course plus I had noting else to do over the winter months, reminder buy the extensions adjusters for rear shock to make quick adjustments well worth it!!

Hi SGT2666,

Installing the Tokico D-Specs was one of my few mods.... done at approx. 400 miles on the odo.

The Tokicos (set at adjustment mid-range) are much more compliant and do not have the harsh ride of the OE FRPP struts & shocks... my SGT was much more pleasant to street drive after the switch.

However, for my Autocrossing, the Tokicos (especially the front struts) don't quite feel firm enough at full adjustment. From distant memory (10-months ago) the Tokicos set at full firm feel approximately as firm as the OE FRPP units.

In a few weeks I'm planning to order a set of Koni Sport Yellows which were not available at the time of my Tokico purchase... drat! Hopefully the Konis will be more to my liking for Autocross... really FIRM at full adjustment.

I'll keep you posted and don't forget that we talked a while ago about meeting at a local Autocross event/practice too... and the local (Seattle area) Autocross Season is getting closer too. I'll send you a PM with more details in a couple of days.

Also - dittos (+1) with "louie428"... the Tokico D-Spec rear shock adjuster extensions are well worth the extra cost for easier adjustment access and convenience... a "must have". BTW: front strut adjustment is easily accessed from the engine compartment at the top of the strut stud.

Happy motoring...

Louis, is that a FRPP aluminum differential cover? Any clearance problems? Any problems with installation? I have been considering that myself.

FRP offers two axle girdles...M-4033-G1 for all 8.8 applications, and M-4033-G2 for the 2005 and up Mustang GT suspension.

CRAP! Had them on my 06 GT daily driver with Steeda Sport Springs and the ride is terrible! There is a stretch on I-49 in Louisiana just north of I-10 and my head is still bouncing off the roof and I live in Florida. Had Steeda adjust the ride 3 times

and nothing worked! Replaced it with Eibach's and Bilsteins and problem solved!
