2boxers
I see on other post that 255/35 front 285/30 rear are being used on the razors. In the Shelby Magazine they use 255/30 front and 285/30rear. I called SAI and they said to use 255/35 front and 275/35 rear , they informed me that 285/30 on the rear are not safe. What is right?
TexasShelby
275 is correct. That's about as wide a tire as you want to put on a 9" inch rim. You can have an inch put the rim without much trouble from a couple different shops that would up you to about a 295, but really you might want 1.5" for that large. I haven't heard of anyone putting 1.5" on a Razor yet. So it'd be valuable to see if it will clear with or without lowering. Your number 275 is millimeters, that's almost 11" on a 9" rim. a 295 is almost 12". Besides it probably bubbling out past the rim (read: looking goofy), any hard corning could be unsafe (read: popping the bead).
2boxers
Did you mean 285 not 295?
wickedGT500
I run 255's up front and 285's in the rear and I must say I would not do anything different if I could do it again. The 285's are a flush perfect fit. IMO 275's are to small and 295's would be to big.......285's PERFECT. :happy feet: :happy feet:
2boxers
Is it 255/30front or 255/35front and 285/30rear or 285/35rear? I know nothing about tire size

SGT2666
255/35/20 front and 285/30/20 rear is what I am running. +1 10" rims though.
wickedGT500
+1 10" rims though. I dont understand why people are saying 10" rims.........they fit my rims perfect with zero ballooning to the tire, they are flush. anyways if I had a 10" rim id go with 295. TexasShelby
My tire manufacturer has a recommendation for a 285/30/20. The minium wheel size is 9.5", the recommended is 10" and the maximum is 10.5". Will it work on a 9" wheel...probably without a problem in the world. Why did they come to those sizes? The reason why is for saftey. On a short side wall tire, you don't have as much give as you do in a taller side wall....that places more stress on your bead. Too big of a tire on a too small a wheel can pop a bead when cornering hard. I'm not a track runner, so I don't plan on slamming corners a great deal, but I do drive mine spirited. And having the pilots mentality of, well what will the lawyers say when the dust settles.... Worst case...let's say someone has 285's on 9" rims, and they look great, but it pops a bead, slides off the road...boom...they have a claim. A claim on a very expensive auto...a performance auto....the insurance company will climb all over that car, and if they've found someone used too small a wheel for that tire....guess what....they no pay no claim. Just my opinion. I'm going to drop the few bucks to get them widened to 10"
