hansonjohn
Maybe this question has been discussed already but I'll ask it anyway. Has anyone installed the Ford GT start button in the dash where the power point is located? If so, does it work in place of the ignition switch start mode? How difficult was it to install or did you have dealership do the install? Any problems with it since the install?

It has nothing to do with the start curcuit.

Actually, it is a real starter and is said to be a complex install. Here is a link to the item to which I refer: http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/serv...10002_953600_-1 Jim

hansonjohn
A Ford GT fan is screwing with us... It works just fine, I have it installed - and it wasn't that difficult. http://forum.teamshelby.com/forums/index.p...st&p=209464 I was told the cost is around $122.00. Will your ignition switch now still start the car also? Also, the parts guy told me they are on back order right now.

jcthorne
They show up on Ebay for about $60 pretty regular. Thats where I got mine and they are pretty easy to install. Come with directions to install as the only starter or in combo with the starter on the key. Your choice. I set it up with the button only. BCPD199
Go to the FRPP website. Here's the link to the instructions. start button installation You can pull up the complete installation sheet including pictures of the install. It doesn't look that hard depending on your own skills. Also, you can make the key only power or power and start. I think it looks great and one of the firsts things I want to do! DubbsFaris
I was looking at this...and I had a momentary flash of genius...(for me it was anyway) I have a Cobra RX9 (I think) radar detector with a wireless display that is the size of a closed razr cell phone. Problem: It comes with a crappy solution to mount the display, I cant put it high since it wont work with the top down and I will NOT velcro my dash...I had been hanging it on my vent, but it keeps falling off, so you guys talking about the outlet made me think, if I use an old plug that I dont need anymore can I glue it to the mount and have a "plug in" solution to my problem...wah lah Even better- I got out my trusty drememl and sized the end of it down after jerking the wires out to fit the slots of the display holder. It worked perfect and fits like a charm...no more issue with that, and I never use thatoutlet when I drive anyway...so thanks for the inspiration guys! I may even post this in a new thread and show pics! :happy feet: May seem off topic- but this thread was the catalyst
