mjhallas
I want to have some interior part of my SGT (easily removable) autographed by Mr. Shelby. What has anybody used ? I need some suggestions. The air bag cover is out as my dealer said it is part of the actual deployment system. The donation is a worthwhile one and will probably give more anyway. Thanks

Thanks I had my air bag done. It is two bolts and one connector. My dealer took it out and replaced it for free. It is a simple operation. If your dealer does not want to do it I am sure you could find someone (or do it yourself) who would.
07 SGT 1110
How about the console cover? That is easy to remove and a second cover can be acquired for day to day use.

Thanks It is part of the airbag deployment system but it is also easily removed. Many have chosen this part for a signature. The other most common is the passengers sun visor. They have Mr. Shelby sign the vanity mirror door.
mrhugger
Check out my avatar. It is the passenger side sun visor easy to remove and replace and is hidden away until you want to show it. I would not try the dash airbag and neither would my dealer. Steve
ducatirider2
The airbag removal is not a big deal. I did my car and 3 others at the birthday bash. Search the forums here for detailed instructions, or PM me and I'll try and help.
TexasShelby
By far the best is airbag door....if you send it in, be sure you mask exactly where you want it. And which way is up.
twobjshelbys
I'm going to send in my airbag cover. But, I was wondering... What happens if the airbag deploys? Will the cover plate be destroyed and lose my autograph?
hotrodric
I'm going to send in my airbag cover. But, I was wondering... What happens if the airbag deploys? Will the cover plate be destroyed and lose my autograph? My guess would be your car is wrecked and most likely a total! But if this did happen, and you really wanted to re-use the cover, there may be away to re-assemble. If you look at it, there is a cloth backing that holds the 2 half's together that allows it to break away when the airbag is deployed. But there would be the danger it may not work correctly, and no way to test. Maybe get a second one signed while CS can still do it.

Steve I also had my passenger side visor signed. It is easy to take out (2 screws) and easy to ship. Also, there's the benefit that its not exposed to daily wear and tear since the visor is folded up most of the time...
Reino
Airbag Cover has my vote! Check this out for the aribag removal. Great instructions, advice and inspiration from the very helpful members here. Worst part of the removal was getting down there to reach the bolts as I have rather broad shoulders. With a little help from the wife we got it right off. http://forum.teamshelby.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=14806 I havent even gotten it back yet but was so excited to get it shipped knowing what I was getting in return. sdear
I was very nervous about having my hubby take out my airbag, BUT , with the help of Roger (rossvt) , and my wonderful hubby, it was a snap to take out. I carried it all the way to Vegas and so glad I did ! My hubby had it back in , in 10 minutes !

I know this has been discussed on other threads I'm just trying to decide if it should be done or not. I took my airbag cover off today and will mail it out early next week after I get it boxed up. sdear
No Don, I didn't. We decided against it, in fear it might discolor that panel. That is also one of the reasons I had him sign the top panel, the dash shades that part pretty well. My car also rarely sits in the sun, and if it does, I put a sun shade up. I figure I will be dead and gone before that fades out

gofastguy
Just wondering if anyone had a non-IUP airbag cover signed, and if so, how it turned out. That is where I would really like the autograph, but I'm concerned if it will adhere long-term to this type of dash material...

Are you serious? ummmm did you have to get another airbag..or do you have two signatures with one upsdie down? Funny you posted this..when we were in line at the birthday bash....mywickedshelby and Michael Morris kept telling me to make sure I hand it to him the right way to sign lol
FiaCobra
I'm going to send in my airbag cover. But, I was wondering... What happens if the airbag deploys? Will the cover plate be destroyed and lose my autograph? If you get into a frontal accident where the airbag would go off, yes, i would assume the cover would be damaged. This will only happen if there's a passenger in the front seat during that mishap. If you're the only one in the car, only the drivers side will deploy. Like someone said earlier, if your airbag goes off, that's the least of your problems.
