SGT/SC#0471
Wow. I still do not know whats up with the vin removal, buyers knew they were "re-creation" cars. Crazy story. Crazy money. I really enjoied the "tiawan parts" and "bondo" part. Apparently the police in that town are "old school" and prefer lead and USA restoration parts. Seems like anyone who would pony up 100k for a "re-creation" car that was not even built yet made a grevious error in judgement. The clone muscle market has gone down alot, and it sucks that people got taken advantage of. My main problem with this is that it takes the restorable cars out of circulation and out of the average hot rodders garage, making them stupid valuable as project cars, and over priced when done. Then everyone bitches that kids have Hondas with wings and exhausts and that the USA car industry is failing. Well blame it on some middle aged guy with a 100k dollar 56 chevy, mustang etc etc.... Kids have a hard time finding affordable project cars. And with computers few of them wrench. No USA car history except in a car show or museum. I personally very very rarely see old cars driving around town, excepting the "show car" guys. The history of wrenching on a V-8 and doing a donut in front of your buddies house in a american rig is hard for the average young person or working clas dude when the hobby gets so overinflated in price. Where have all the beater Camaros and Mustang solid drivers gone? Remember when the car hobby was not so "cool" and Barett Jackson was not on TV. or before e-bay... Hope this situation works out for everyone involved.....Very Sad and Lame IMO.
SGT#3670
I am watching this really close. I hope that the cars get auctioned off and are not just destroyed. They have a ton of old fastbacks. I would love to get my hands on a shell. I do not care if it has a salvage title or not. It would seem like a waste to destoy all of those cars just cause they do not have a VIN anymore. Adam

Who knows what they did ? They could have been salvaged cars that were chopped up and pieced together hence the VIN number removal. Too bad Carroll's name is associated with this company. The owners of Unique certainly could talk the talk, they just forgot to build cars when they were spending all the deposits. I'm sure many true car people were financing hurt by this scam. It is a shame and a black eye for the rebuilders community.
sudden
This is only the tip of the ice berg. People with a lot of money and no knowledge of auto restoration have not a clue that these cars can be built for 25 grand. Lets see thats 125 grand to the pocket of the company. He just figured these people saw the movie and he would get salvaged cars , bondo them etc. and make them look like the movie car an wa-laaa, lots of bucks. Shelby felt he could get in the money too and just called them to make cars. No follow up on his part. He now has his name on this scam and could hurt all the Shelbys. I hope not. sudden. However, I do like the Dynacorn shells. They are nice.
SWEDESHELBY1
Shelby did a lot of things wrong before Ms. Amy got into the picture. Everybody who ever met Carrol Shelby knew he was just a race car driver with a big name and no financial brains at all. Then they just scammed him big time! He got in a lot of trouble with all kinds of financial stuff that he is STILL paying for today and some stuff his name is just attached too. I am sorry to hear this and those responsible should be jailed or at least pay all the money back. But it is a corporation that built these cars and the corp is bankrupt not the person or persons who owned the corp so they'll probably get away with it all- Wow unreal! SWEDEMAN
I wouldn't say Ole Shel is just a race car driver without financial brains. He is sly like a fox! History says that Ole Shel is JUST a race car driver. His companies, with him at the helm, have always been in financial hell. The only thing that makes this one go is Amy B. She knows how to follow and get the $$money. Without someone like that he would be in trouble again and the SGT would have never made it off the design floor! But that being said he "was" one hell of a driver!

"Without someone like that he would be in trouble again and the SGT would have never made it off the design floor!" Really? I don't think so. Ford already had this car designed. In fact, Ford was going to produce the car themselves. Only Ford said it would be 3 years before they could be set up properly to start building it. SAI said they could be ready in 6 months. So Ford contracted with SAI to have the car shipped to them and let them assemble the parts needed so they could get the car to market in 6 months instead of another 3 years. So the only difference here is that you may have had to wait longer before seeing this car instead of seeing it in 07 when it came out.
69dejavue
In addition the car is going to sell much more with the name Shelby than any other name that Ford could have used, including Boss, Mach 1, Bullitt, etc. The Shelby name guarantees sales. This is not to detract from Ms. Boylan as she has obviously done a super job. Just look at the 50% increase in the stock price!!!!!!!!!!

gonein60autoparts
This is really disappointing. I wonder if they are tracking down current owners to see if the VINs have been removed from their cars and if so are they going to collect them for evidence? Son of GT
With respect to the cars being crushed, I hate to say this, but without a VIN on the body, crushing is the only option for Law Enforcement to pursue. We are going to loose a significant number of 1966 and 1967 bodies because of Dennis Hasty's greed and stupidity!

shelby500
Could someone please explain to me why they did not just start out by fabricating the shell or buying it from Dynacorn instead of using a shell that was most likely compromised or needed so many gallons of bondo to repair. Did the buyers seriously think the shells that the company was working with had no serious questionable issues. In hindsight they would have been much better had they just bought the bodies from Dynacorn and been upfront with their customers. It could not have set them back that much financially and they still would have been in business.

The Dynacorn 7/8 body didn't come out until recently - even though they promised them for the last few years. Unique's been doing this way before the Dynacorn body came out.
