svtbird91
Has anyone gone this route yet ? http://www.competitionplus.com/index.php?o...21&Itemid=8 I am currently looking into it somewhat . Too early to say which way I might go ....still gathering info and weighing options. I lke the idea of a 266 1st gear especially with my 373's. It will have a dramatic effect on drivability compared to the stock 298 1st gear . IMO Also easier on the syncros in the 1 to 2 shift.
Grabber
I wonder what the Tranzilla Jr costs? SHLBYSVT (Joe) over on the other site posted this: Initially I was told between $3200 & $3400 and this was preproduction. A new tranny is approximately the same so that is what I am expecting. Should have it back in a week, so I will give you the actual price at that point.
chuckstang
I thought the TR606 is the biggest baddest tranny around, hence why it is used in the new 08 Vettes and Vipers and so on? Dam I guess if you got extra money laying around, why not? Evo runs 9s on the stock tranny, is that not good enough? Now if you are one of those with a busted tranny from Ford, maybe you could work out some sort of a deal and end up paying less for this Godzilla JR tranny
Justin00Stang
I don't think there is a ton of good data on how durable the stock parts are. Some may be fine for a while, others may have failures early on. I like having a decent first gear, less shock load on the trans and you can still pull a good 60'. I hope you are right, they have had my transmission now since late Sept or early Oct. I've talked with George concerning mine and he is saying soon! I'm having George do the Transzilla, rated for 1200hp with the super close ratio (2.29/1.60/1.21/1:1/.85/.75 with the race type dog-ring synchros, that allows for clutchless shifting both up and down. Also with harden and polish gears and shaft and I believe with additional splines. That I was told would be around $6300.00 with my transmission. Grabber hopefully for all, the new Tranzilla Jr. will not be so involve and the turn around is as advertise since I talked with you in Sept about sending mine into Rockland Standard Gear. Hope it comes soon since I'm signing up for the Gas Pump Nationals, put on by Hot Rod Mag. and Rocket Fuel.Bill

So in Lamens terms, you like a tall first gear? I really like the gearing and stock gear set up on this car. I thought I would hate it after coming from a Cobra with 410s but this car with the right tune just pulls fine in any gear. The other day I was doing about 30 and assumed I was in 2nd, but to my surprise I was still in 4th and was able to accelerate out of the corner, very impressive. I've got twice the power of the stock motor, it can handle the tall first, how the ratios are closer in 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th. In the 1/4 mile the time between 3rd and 4th seems forever with the stock ratio. This ratio was first set up for road racing, so with the ratios being closer and 898rwhp accelerating out of a corner will be the last of my worries.LOL Bill
chuckstang
Good god, you are crazy :D I love it I have wondered if the hesitation between 1st and 2nd is a tune thing or the tranny gearing itself
Justin00Stang
The Tranzilla JR model with 2.97 2.07 1.43 1.00 .080 .056 is $3650.
HARLEYDEALER
Good god, you are crazy :DI love it I have wondered if the hesitation between 1st and 2nd is a tune thing or the tranny gearing itself The only hesitation between 1st and 2nd is the rev limiter and shifting, as soon as you let out the clutch, you are pushing it back in to shift. The new transmission should help there and in each gear, no clutch, just blip the throttle and shove it in the faster and harder the better, the synros are design to be slam together, too soft they will bump and grind, wearing the dogs round and thats bad.
