naniki
New here as of tonight. I bought an '07 sgt in November and I love it. Never had a Mustang b4 but saw it on the lot and had to do it. Anyway, I didn't know they could be purchased supercharged and now I want one. My friends at work say adding one will devalue the car as a collectible. I have talked to the Ford garage and they tell me if I put one on, my warrenty is void, but they can put a whipple on for me and this will merely reduce the warrenty from 3/36 to 1yr/12,000mi. I have read about badging with an sc that indicates SAI installed it. "Who is SAI?" can I get this installed by them or even a ford dealer without devalueing the car? Thanks in advance for any info you have.
Strawman
The collectible value of these cars, particularly in the short term, is questionable at best. We've already seen many '07's leftovers on dealer lots now selling below MSRP. Buy the car to drive it and enjoy it. BUY THE SUPERCHARGER! I should be getting my '08 GT/SC in a month or so, those who've supercharged their cars say nothing short of "incredible". Perhaps in 20 years the garage queens will have some collectible value, but mt SGT will be nothing but a very fond memory by then.
mccoystudio_merged
Welcome, and congrats!!!! If you are into making money or "value" may I suggest real estate, there are alot of foreclosures right now, maybe gold...someone said that was good too...Drive the dang thing and who cares! Said it once say it again.... There are virtually NO collectable NEW cars you will find profit on. The SGT included. Read Sports Car Market Magazine, if your in it for the dough. And bring your wallet. SAI........google it. BTW did you get the enhanced scoop option on your car with the factory double slip rear axil? Also, try dumping the clutch (just push it down, rev motor up real high and slide foot off pedal to the side real real quick like, then bang or shift to 2nd and 3rd in the same way) at 4,000 rpm with the wheel turned to the left full lock and remember to use the double trac guidance system in full auto mode. Some cars have issues with this better test it at about 1000mi to make sure its working right. Mine is ok but some other people have issues with the system. Cheers! and congrats!! SGT0701
Hi Kish01, I agree with others on the "value", if you are concerned, just keep all the parts you remove and tuck them away for 20 years when the car appreciates. It is your car, mod it as you see fit. The GT/SC side stripe is only available when the supercharger is installed at an SAI (Shelby American Incorporated) Mod shop. SAI is located in Las Vegas, but approved mod shops are in the works nationwide. Right now the only mod shops I am aware of other than Vegas are Tasca Ford in Rhode Island, and Quantium Performance in Dallas. Looks like Central / South Florida are next. If SAI installs your supercharger it should improve the future value instead of hurt, because your car will be listed in the Shelby Registry as having the "factory mod". If you want them to do the install, get your name on their list for an install sometime in 2008. You can search this forum for a ton of discussion on all the above. Welcome and Enjoy your ride. naniki
Thanks to all for the input. I do intend to drive the balls off of this car. Except in the winter... I live in Ohio and there is a load of salt on the roads all winter long. It will be a cold day in hell before I save a car for 20 or 30 years in hopes that I will make money on it... I might be looking to trade up some day though and I want to make sure I get the mods done in the right place.

I SAY DO IT, THERE ARE NO PARTS THAT YOU ARE TAKING OFF WORTH ANYTHING, NOT EVEN 20 YEARS FROM NOW. WHEN YOU SUPERCHARGE, ALL YOU ARE TAKING OFF IS THE COLD AIR INTAKE, JUST SAVE THAT, BUT IT IS STILL JUST A FORD RACING PART, THERE ARE A COUPLE OTHER PARTS THAT YOU MODIFY, BUT ALL STOCK 4.6 PARTS. THOUSANDS PRODUCED. NOTHING IS SPECIAL OR EVEN SERIAL NUMBERED. DRIVE IT HARD AND MAKE CARROLL PROUD.
Cobrawertz_merged
Let SAI install a Whipple on it and try to wipe the smile off your face after you blow through the gears. Odds are you will chicken out under hard accelleration before you ever hit fifth gear. Good Luck ! Rick
