AFBLUE
I got this Trufiber hood when I thought I was getting an 08 Mustang GT. It's functional...routes air from hood scoop to right on top of the air filter. I've been thinking about installing it on my Shelby GT. Paint it Vista Blue, paint on the stripes to match, and install a set of the new hood pins. I would keep the old hood so that I could return it to factory condition. 1965coupe
I saw a "fake" Shelby GT at the Queen Mary Mustang show (in the parking lot). The hood gave it away more than anything.. It was the factory hood scoop that comes on the Cal-Special Mustangs.. My vote.. no. The Shelby hood scoops are so.. "unique".. warpage and all.. <_<
SGT0701
I voted no as well. It is too close to stock to not keep it stock so it seems to be an unnecessary expense, and I agree with 65 on the unique factor.

WI-GT/SC
I voted no and completely agree w/1965coupe & 07SGT0701. If anything, sell it and go for the CS-6 hood or to be completely different if your not Supercharging pick up a used stock hood & go with the stripes & a Shaker, that would be unique & really cool my opinion. Just my $.02 :D
ilmor
I voted no also, for originality reasons; also, I see that its functional, but if you got caught driving in rain wouldn't water just pour into / on top of your cone filter? AFBLUE
That would have to be some serious rain. I think I would be more concerned about going through a car wash or spraying a water hose in there. Well the voting is pretty close. Only 6 votes separate yes from no. autoplay
I say install it,unless you want to get some money for other things. You could have the scoop modified,to appear like a Cobra scoop. Simplistic, add something around the rim of it,match color, and put in false lookin rivets etc. (plumbers putty/grin) Bottom line,it's your car,and I believe people should do as they please with their cars! LuLu
I guess I'm in the minority. I say INSTALL!! Well, you're not alone. INSTALL! I like the design, not for it's visual appeal, but for it's function. Yes, it's not the SGT hood, but as long as you keep the original hood, you're not harming any value of your SGT. The problem I have with calling the SGT/FRP induction system a "cold-air" kit, is where it the cold air? True, it's sealed off from engine bay temps to some degree, but it's metal, thus it acts like a convection oven. I bet you could bake a cookie in there on a 15 minute high speed run. This hood is very much like the inductions hoods of the late 60's and early '70s that routed fresh cold outside air directly to the induction path. This is a true "cold-air" hood and it completes the CAI kit. IMHO, you have a real performance upgrade here. Paint it and install it, or, sell it to me? SGT scoops add nothing but eye appeal and drag to areodynamics, and I like mine a lot. But, for the function this hood represents, I'd have to go with this hood and off it comes. Same areodynamic drag, but I'm getting something out of it. AF...If you keep it, where can I find mine? Link? Those of you expressing concerns about water/rain/car washes, it's really not a problem. A little moisture in the air/fuel mixture won't hurt anything. You could always add some drain holes in the air path leading to the air box. Who among you drive in the rain or visit car washes anyway?
Revans310_merged
aerodynamic drag....Wow how fast do you plan on Going.
Kelsey
I say INSTALL too. Thats the one thing that always drove me nuts about newer mustangs, they have all these scoops that aren't functional. I mean heck, my Neon SRT4 had a real hood scoop. BergShelby_merged
I wouldn't install it but if you like the look, you really can't go wrong if you keep the SGT hood. I might change my mind once its all painted and installed but I just don't think the scoop compares to the look of the SGT. I would be concern people would just think it was a bad clone of a SGT. But I do like that it's functional. Too bad you can't just grind off the scoop and/or bolt the SAI scoop over it. Then you have the look of SAI and it would be a functional scoop. This is where it would be nice if SAI sold a 2nd scoop to a SGT owner...or better yet...they made a functional hood scoop for the SGT. Hey Amy, a new product idea??? LuLu
aerodynamic drag....Wow how fast do you plan on Going. Even at 30 MPH, the hood scoop is areodynamic drag. Likewise the rear spoiler, but at least a rear spoiler has some value at higher speeds by adding down force to the rear wheels to help keep you planted on the pavement. Maybe not a lot, but at least it's more than just eye candy. I'm also not all that excited by the mention of the '03-'04 Mach I "shaker" scoop. It vibrates and moves around (which is also appealing eye candy), but all the air it scoops is processed through the stock air box, and by the time that air reaches the throttle body, it's air as hot as the engine bay. Check it out, peek here? http://www.karkraft.com/new_page_3.htm

AFBLUE
Link? http://alliance247.com/product.php?pid=946...02b9d81a72a6983 If I do sell it, it would have to be to someone local, because the shipping costs for such a large item wouldn't make it worthwhile. It cost me $150 in shipping from CA to VA.

CSM3071
I was thinking of getting that same hood or the KR style dual ram myself and having it painted and striped. If you do decide to install post some pics up so we can all see how it looks.

mywickedshelby
I said sell for only one reason, I have seen this hood on new Mustangs, non-shelbys, and I think it would make your car look like it was posing as a Shelby. Kinda like taking off the "Powered By Ford" badges just to put the GT one back on the fender.
AFBLUE
So what about the CS6 hood? It's available to the general public and quite a few SGT owners have this hood too.

And like you said, hold onto your original hood. I would, however, take this as an opportunity to paint all the stripes, not just on the hood. Heck, have the factory hood painted while they're masking and spraying everything else. I'm not sure that I would want taped in one spot and painted in another (you may have already said this and I missed it; if so, "sorry").

You should do your car for you, if you like it go for it. There are some minor fitment issues with the CS6 that people have talked about, pretty common with a glass hood. Blue, overall I have been happy with my CS6 hood. I have not really experienced any fitment issues. Here is a pic of mine from dead on where you can see the lines and they look pretty good to me. AFBLUE
You've probably seen the Roush hood scoop put onto to the factory hood as opposed to a full up replacment hood like the one above. Thanks for all the comments. Still undecided. I think if someone locally really wanted my hood, I would sell it.
fatboy_merged
can u run brake duct tube from the lower grill and run it up to the filter from underneith? that will give u fresh and and dont have to worry about the water factor unless ur driving through a creek LOL or how about this idea...have SAI come up with a left front fender with a side scoop built into it where the air filter is...i did a picture editing of one...my artwork sucks but it gives a general idea... maybe make the front fender side scoop kinda flush with the fender where it doesn't poke outward like an ugly wart....just have a countersunk scoop similar to the one in the pic of this 69 GT500 attachment
