mywickedshelby
I was wondering if there will be a special plaque or something like that for all the "Team Members" who trek to LA and participate in the Caravan of Shelbys to LV, the track day, etc. I mean, of course, the memories alone (I cant wait!) will forever etch the experience into my vary core but.. Will there be something to "carmemmorate" the event? Everyone of the cars there will be Shelbys of varying vintages, but they would become 1 of 100 (or something like that) of cars that were there that faithful day! I could see it now, one day at Barrett Jackson, here is a 2007 Shelby GT, 1 of 100 to travel in a caravan with the MAN HIMSELF from LA to LV! "One of one" ...... to pass Mr.Shelby in a hole shot at 4th and Main! Or maybe a special signing session for attendees? with 85th Bday trim? Anyway, just wondering if anyone (Adam?) has heard anything? Oh, sorry, Adam again, what do you get Mr. Shelby for his birthday? I was thinking a Hot Wheels? No, not of a Chevy ~Stump! Now get a decal of your own and don't leave home without it. I really wish I could attend this B-day bash event with y'all, just for the road trip. But, I'm still working out some health issues and I am not up to speed to such a drive. The Lord knows I would be with y'all if I could. I have been on more than two dozen OTR "caravans" in my Marauder years, and there is nothing better in life than being one of many in the line, left lane and hammer down. I got stories you would not believe. Due to the qualities of the Marauder, most (including local law enforcement) though of us as "special" LEOs, and we got the "right of way" often. Close to "guaranteed", once we hit the blacktop. Here's one...A few years back, we had a line of Marauders on a run from Chicago to Cleveland, along the Ohio turnpike. We all pulled in for a fuel/food (and whatever) stop and just by luck, there were a number of consecutive parking spots open, so, we pulled up "syncronized", like a precision team. Six "big, black and loud police cars", and as we emerged from our cars (some of us still wearing our GMRS radio headsets), folks in the parking lot ran for cover. One gent scooped up his 3 YOA child and ducked behind a car, shouting over his shoulder to his wife "get down!". Guess we must have appeared to be some kind of "G-man" raid, 'cause many of the kitchen help ran out the back doors yelling "Immigration!". Shoot...All we wanted was to fill up on gas, and drop off remenants of our last rest stop. Road trips and caravans...Gawd, I miss them. Happy motoring, gents, and be safe. shelbymotorsports
Will there be something to "carmemmorate" the event? Depending on the amount of pressure applied to the go pedal you will have the opportunity to receive a citation that will be memorialized with Carroll’s birth date of January 11th from someone special wearing a gold star on their shirt Steve

But I tell you what Michael, I'll take your picture when you come rolling in to SAI and sell you a copy real cheap! LOL Adam has my phone # so you guys can give us a call, so we can be ready with video cams and cameras. There is supposed to be a gift bag for all who participate in this very special event. I could not help myself. But seriously, folks. If there is a sense that this would be a good thing to do, we need to say so and get some creative writing going out here. mywickedshelby
I am dead serious. I think we need to get some ideas going. How nice would it be to present him with the plaque at his birthday dinner. An offering in admiration of the Legend and his life long contributions to Racing and the Muscle Car Movement Worldwide. ...hey maybe we should include that phrase. I want to do this, who is with me? Jim! Lulu!.....who else?
LuLu
I'm on-board with this, just ask me what you want me to do? I have some connections with a local shop that could do this up right in no time, but time is running short too. If you want a plaque, I can start on this tomorrow. But, deciding what it should say is as chancy as our "gas cap" thread. I like what I have read so far. Name it and you got it, and I'll ship it anywhere you ask. Jim Clark, Michael Morris, anyone who will eventually get it delivered to the B-day bash on time (sorry if I missed some longtime and dedicated screen names, I don't yet know you all yet). Let's get it done...K?
mywickedshelby
I am working on the "tribute" to have on the plaque. Jim is putting together some ideas too. Lets brainstorm for one day and pm me with your tel number and we can talk tomorrow night about what makes sense and sounds good. lets make this happen guys, what a great opportunity to do something special. Cobrawertz_merged
How about a plaque with a very short tribute(keep it simple) and a "Happy Birthday" with our names and CSM #'s ? Rick
RogerS
I'lll be in. Should be a trubute plaque from the Shelby Autos SGT form members. I like the csm # idea with the name idea Rick. I beileve in keeping it simple with a short meaningful single statment. Just an idea. We should make a membership joint presentation also. Again, short simple and too the point. Link that to a photo op with the members. That would be a great keepsake. Let's make sure Adam is in on this also.

66DNA
I just returned from Disneyland! Had a great time with my wife and daughters. Count me in to contribute to the plaque idea - please keep me posted!! I was thinking that we could create some Mickey Mouse ears and embroider Carroll's name on it? Hmmm, way too much Disney over the past five days!
clark17357
I nominate Wicked as the moderator of this effort to produce a plaque for Mr. Shelby. All in favor, take a step back and he will be the only one standing there. The trick here will be for us to put together something special in a short amount of time. All of us will have to be flexible with what we say on the plaque because we each hold something different inside ourselves for The Man and getting all of what we feel into just a few words will be a challenge. mywickedshelby
Thanks Rick & Roger, that sounds like a great idea. I too am also thinking the plaque should be kept simple with a short birthday message and our names and csm#s and be accompanyied by a framed letter with the presentation tribute (rather than putting it all on the plaque). I will s/w a few partners in crime today/tonight and post the details tomorrow. I will get some numbers together and report back here to announce the sign up procedure to be included. Also, I am thinking we can take a collection for the Childrens Foundation and present Mr. Shelby with the check at the dinner as well. Participation in this aspect is completely voluntary and only those who feel comfortable pursuing this endeavor should feel compelled to contribute. mywickedshelby
Those wanting to be included in the plaque and Charity contribution for Mr.Shelby's Birthday present should email me at: mbsings4u@msn.com with your full name (first & last) and forum name and full csm #. (ie. 07SGT2502) This is just to get a count so we know how large to make the plaque. Actual costs will be annouced later once the number of participants is established.
