The Sheriff
I own an 07 SGT. About 4 weeks ago I put it to bed for the winter. Sunday I went over to start it and let it run for awhile and the battery was dead. I am pretty sure that nothing was left on previous to storing it. I think I will remove the battery and store at home for the winter. I know I can buy a battery tender but I won't be driving it again until spring anyways so I don't think I will do this. Has anyone else experienced this problem after extended lengths without starting?
RogerS
I have recently let my car sit for 3 weeks and just started right up. No issues. This is without the battery tender. I have read somewhere that the shaker 1000 system draws as well as the antitheft system. I make sure my radio is off along with the shaker and I did not lock my car as it's stored in the garage. But for long term storage I will connect the battery tender. Cheaper than replacing a battery and it extends its life. Jeg's has them for $49.99 for the battery tender and $29.00 for the battery tender Jr.

LuLu
harbour freight has them for $4.98 ea on sale if you hve one in your area Ditto this +1. Any LAPS has 12V trickle chargers for under 10 bucks. Works for me, and has for over the last 20 years. Don't be too disappointed by battery failure. The batteries themselves were produced several years ago and have been sitting around FMC warehouses just waiting for something to do. What I mean to say, is that your battery may be twice as old as your SGT, and you can't really help that. Don't overlook the possibility of an open circuit, or, a bad ground as responsible for draining your battery, but that's more remote than just age. If it happens again after only two week of inactivity, you have something else going on. Investigate this, aftermarket alarm systems, stereo upgrade, what ever...A battery that won't hold a full charge more than two weeks, is a sick battery, unless something else is comsuming it's power. Examine you battery for a production date, they are usually very clear and visible. Then remember, it's a warrantied component. Best wishes. The Sheriff
harbour freight has them for $4.98 ea on sale if you hve one in your area Thanks everyone for your input. Will a $10 trickle charger recharge a completely dead battery so the car will restart within a few days? How about a $30 battery tender?

SGT2666
no a trickle wont charge a completely dead battery but dont spend 30 bucks you can get them for under 10 bucks B) My car sat for 3 weeks or so and when I went to use it it was dead as a door nail. I found that the batter tender won't charge a totally dead battery. The Battery Tender has some intelligence in it so it won't fry over charge your batter and also it makes sure you have it connected correctly polarity wise. It can't check the polarity on a dead battery and won't start charging.
