Shelby GT vs GT-h vert

I went down to Florida to visit with my parents who are elderly and having sone health issues. Enough said. Decisions need to be made etc. I wasn't expecting a fun trip.

I flew in; went to the Hertz GOLD service but did not see my name on the board so I went inside and learned that Hertz had a wonderful MINIVAN waiting for me when I reserved a Taurus. It was 11:30 PM and I replied "A stupid minivan? You gotta be kidding, I drive a Shelby at home".

There was a slight pause and the agent said " Let me check to see if we have one" .......

Sure enough I'm driving vert #131 for a mere $100 a day more (oh well). Unlimited mileage though. They had 3 verts waiting for drivers that night. I expected the riot act being read to me with the Hertz check-in from but was told " they don't do that anymore". So much for the paperwork keepsake. I STILL GOT MY 20% OFF SAM'S CLUB DISCOUNT!

I will send pics later and impressions of the two cars. This one has 7600 miles on it very close to what is on my SGT at home. So far I'm having a ball. Let's put it this way.... #131 can do at least 131 and still pulls from there. The trip from Orlando to Vero Beach was , let me say , "spirited" .Hopefully, If I get enough done when I'm here I will take a blast to Daytona and take a ride on the beach with the car on Sunday.

Is Molly Browns still there?

Hmmm. Let's see unlimited mileage. Maybe I should drive home to Rhode Island???

My rental experience with the GT-H is the reason that I ordered the Shelby GT. So be careful, you might find yourself thinking, then justifying, then making that 2nd purchase for that matched pair!

Same here, I rented the GT-H twice and the rest is history. Harley, I'm just south of Vero, if you see a guy in a silver ML63, wave!

SR60 has been widened to 4 lanes from Yeehaw Junction to I-95, so no more one lane, head on driving, thank goodness. Actually from Orlando you'd take the Florida Turnpike south to SR 60 (Yeehaw). Or, 528 east to I-95 then south. And yes, still lots of gators.

Thats it, Yeehaw Junction! You are right and my memory isnt that good anymore.

My memories are from a trip to Florida for Spring Break in my 1978 280Z.

Picked up my brother in Gainesville, hit the Turnpike to Rt.60, stayed with Grandma for 3 days and then headed to Ft.Lauderdale for another week......then again, it was 1985!
