Heading out Saturday morning on family vacation to visit "The Mouse" in Orange County, CA. (if the fires are under control by then).

Wondered if anyone has been to the Shelby Museum in Gardena and if it's worth taking a drive over to visit? Maybe pick up some of the new SGT die-cast.

Thanks,

Lonny

The fires aren't close to the Tragic Kingdom at all. The winds have turned around and are starting to blow the smoke out today. I have heard of the museum in Gradena. It was mentioned at the Museum tour in Vegas but I haven't been yet. No, Gardena isn't the '60s home of Shelby. That was actually in Los Angeles right next to LAX.

I have been to the facility in gardena. It is the place where he sells tires and 427 engines are made. He has a kindof dark dusty room where he stores alot of cars. Its nothing like las vegas. but worth a trip if your in the area.

Looks like I might need to check it out and let you know what it's like. ;)

A visit to Gardena is worth it to visit the home of the Shelby Foundation offices and gift shop. A lot has changed from the reconstruction done a dozen plus years ago. CS office used to be in the back on Anelo St. with an nice courtyard entrance. Long gone. His last office was upstairs at the current entrance and looked more corporate and sterile compared to the old one. Contact Jenni and see if she will be around when you visit. The Goodyear tire shop mounts thousands of tires for NASCAR in the western region. The engine shop only casts the aluminum blocks now, the assembly is done at Denbeste up north.
