From the article: With around 390 horsepower via a 5.0-liter V8, the Boss Mustang will go on sale before the current model goes out of production. It will be lighter than the GT500 'Stang, and oriented toward track and racing use.

 

 

How much lighter remains to be seen but if it only uses a 5.0L vs the rumored 5.4L then the weight may fall in around the regular GT's range. Here's hoping Ford doesn't pork it up and ruin a possible good thing.

 

 

Oh and Ford if your listening, please use forged parts in the Boss motor and not the craptastic cast parts like in the regular GT.

4.6, 5.0, 5.4 should all weigh about the same if NA alloy motor I would think.

 

JETSOLVER found another comment on the Boss posted by an 'insider' who says the Boss will not be a modular motor, but will be a 6.2L 385-series motor (the one that supposedly Cleveland plant has already gotten orders for, for the '08 super duty). Just speculation, but wanted to mention it.

 

But 390HP @ 3500lbs and good balance and I'm in!! :)
