Crashed SGT

Recommended Posts

After posting on here about my SGT missing stripes and seeing a member from SAI on here twice and not answering any of my concerns in the 10 places ive posted, I became upset. So, I ran a search in google for "Shelby GT Sucks". First Im sorry SAI and please dont remove me. It was only out of anger and what I found made me feel a little better.

This dudes day had to really suck.

I think I may of found a place get cheap badges and possible a wheel or two.

I know we have complained about the scoop a lot on here, but look at how well it held up.

I asked what the CSM # was on that forum. I can't believe that one will be around anymore, surely its scap? I think all of our cars just became a little bit rarer.

*scratching head*

Ugh...look today it's literally tenths of a second differences between most cars. Often on the highway it's not obvious which car is "faster" until you get going REALLY fast and the other guy catch up. That means he goes faster and you go faster etc., and this is the result. Egos get in the way and people keep on going putting themselves and other drivers at risk. And for what?

To me, IMHO, the ultimate insult is to wave these goons on. I had a guy in an older Mitsubishi (often sleepers) just last week at a stop light on a very busy street yell over to me to race on the green. His girlfriend was in the passenger seat looking a bit embarrassed. I looked over said "no thanks". He was lliek "aww..come on light'um up!" I yelled back "go save some money and buy your own then you can light'um up!". He flipped me the bird and flew off.

I'm sure it bothered him more than me and had I raced him, since I obviously have at least half a brain, I would have stopped when com,ing upon traffic where you could just tell he was one of those guys that would go down the breakdown lane or weave in and out almost clipping other cars to get ahead.

And again, for what? I could care less about this guy and his car. I could care less if he's faster after investing 5K in NOS and turbo etc.

Often we get caught up in the moment and the ego takes over. "I'll show him to mess with a Shelby" etc., and we forget it can end badly.

I had a guy once literally try to crash me into the guardrail once many years ago in my old GT! You never know...and IMHO you're better off letting them go as if you're so fast they're not worth the trouble or your gas.

Ouch, I pulled one of those stunts when I was about 20 years old. Luckily I stayed on the road and didn't flip. It was not a fun experience though, I still remember seeing all the lights from other cars as I was spinning. It scared the crap out of me and I definitely learned a lesson from it.

I would recommend everyone look at these pictures, download them, and put a copy in your console for the next time you are tempted to show that ricer who's boss, etc. Not worth it...and as I have said you're ALWAYS faster when you let them go by. IMHO!

Excellent point, Matt. These cars are very forgiving compared with those from the old days but, when you push one too far and do not know how to get it back . . . well, those pictures say it all. Jim :(

Well the good news, I'm pretty dam impressed with Ford/Shelby. At 120 miles that car doesn't look as bad as you think it would. If that was an import it probably would have been cut in half. But the guy is still an idiot. The bad news, is the car says Shelby on it. The insurance companies put all this information in their statistics. In the long run, it will hurt us all. There was auto writer that was loaned a GT500 in Cal that lost control and hit a pedestrian and killed her. The insurance companies are going to put Shelby and high speed crashes in the same sentence. Unfortunately, we are probably some of the safest drivers there are because of our age and a few bad apples will affect our insurance rates.

I agree with Matt, you just have to let them go by and put your egos aside. We have a 18 year old who has a hard time understanding that I don't want to blow somebody off the road with all the hp our car has. My response is, I don't have to prove to anybody what the car is capable of. I'm not going to waste my time or gas to show some idiot what I'm packing under the hood. Most people just want to see the car take off and in the end you're going to be the one in trouble. Taking this car up 120 mph is just plain risky unless you're on a track. At that speed things can happen so quickly. Just let em' go and let him tell his bud's that he blew away a Shelby, because he's probably going to tell them that even if he didn't.

Sorry for the rant, just my $.02.

Dave
