A day in the life of a rented Shelby

Kinda makes you leary about buying one of these. The "dogged" factor goes way up when you mix power, history, and the fact that you don't have to foot the repair bill, but hey, I'd have probably been doing the same if I had rented it! LOL :D

Burn rubber!

I guess... I mean don't get me wrong I love a good burnout as well as the next guy but over and over gets boring! What I loved about renting my car was the fact that I could hit 125 coming out of a rest area on the 10 freeway! Yeah I did a few smokeshows here and there but making the car move and move fast was much more fun than that.... I will be getting the convertable this year in October and I think I will see if I can top the 125 this time!

I agree 100% tuneman. I'd be more for getting it out on the highway and opening her up! I was just amazed in the vid that these kids were doing nothing more than "ragging it out" which is why I posted the comment about being leary of purchasing one of these. I'm sure there are a lot of good ones though

Well i have owned a Fox Bodied 5.0 Mustang for over 10 years and I have done my share of beating on it and it still runs better than my newer van or even friends 2007 cars. But I am not sure how the newer modular motors withstand the abuse that can be given to them. I am sure that there has not been one renter that got on the GT-H at some point in their rental... If I remember right there was someone on here that poped a Nitrous Kit on one and some slicks and did pretty well at the drag strip. Anytime you purchase a used High Proformance car you usually can be assured that it was abused in some way at some time in its life before you got it. I personally would love to have one of last years GT-H Coupes just because of the history of it. But my first choice would have been the Barrett Jackson one that had no miles on it.. LOL The prices seem to be dropping a little I am guessing that most that are being auctioned off now are getting up there in Mileage. The one I rented in Orange County last year only had around 2,000 miles on it and there was some body damage on it already. The car looked to have been bottomed out a few times in driveways and the rear bumper had been bumped a few good times also. (I am going off on a tangent) Anyway I give cudos to those who are purchasing these they are beautiful cars. In my opinion I hope they drive them though to find any problems before the Warranty runs out!

Is there a warranty offered on the GT-H? I am looking at buying one as the prices seem to be at the low (It looks like they are all coming off the Hertz lots at the same time). The few I am checking out make no mention of a Ford warranty. Are these still covered by the Ford Factory warranty?

Thanks

I think some of the others will chime in to verify, but I understand you get the balance of the Ford factory warranty - three years from the 06 manuf or delivery date or 36000 miles for bumper-to-bumper. I thought Ford has a five year warranty for other parts of the car and the drivetrain, but can't say for sure.

Makes me glad I bought a GT instead of the GT-H-both would have been great, but who knows how the rentals have been driven. It's like the old joke-what's the difference between a 4x4 and a rental car-a rental car really will go anywhere. I have a feeling that a good majority of the GT-H's have been beaten on like this or worse.
