Has anyone here on the GT500 board installed a coilover suspension system on their GT500?

The new Shelby Performance Parts web site has the GT500 Eibach kit for sale, it's $1100 which includes Pro System Plus struts with coilover spring and height adjusters, rear shocks, rear springs with height adjusters, front and rear sway bars and hardware; here's the link to the Eibach kit:

Seems like is is a whole lotta kit for the money. I was going to buy the Ground Control suspension kit for my GT500 before I saw the Eibach kit. The Ground Control coilover kit uses Koni adjustable struts with ride height adjusters and adjustable rear shocks, they use Eibach springs front and rear with rear height adjusters as well, they finish the kit with their own adjustable camber plates for $1599; this kit does not include sway bars.

I'm also considering installing a Watts link, I've found two aftermarket mfg.s that make them for the S-197, Fays2 and Griggs Racing, has anyone installed a Watts link?

Just asking what other GT500 owners have done with their suspensions, I'm also interested in hearing about any weight savings tips...For the car that is...

Cheers,

WP

I don't have a GT500 but am waiting on an SGT/SC now in conversion at SAI. I can tell you that I am also looking at this kit as an upgrade to the Ford Performance Pkg. I am planning on open tracking the car and need the adjustability. As for price it IS a good deal with the bars included.

The other item you mentioned is the watts link. I had pretty much made up my mind that I was going to utilize the Saleen watts link set up as used on the Parnelli Jones limited run cars. It is pretty complete but very pricey. Someone on the GT board has stated that Shelby has their own setup in development and I have put the purchase on hold until they release their product. I think the timeframe is late summer. But I can wait.

Hope this helps a little.

I have the ground control system on my car. It is a GT500 and I like the system they offer and it has worked well. I also have a watts link on my car I used the saleen watts like and it is a good unit. You can email me with any questions. I will be happy to answer....
