ColoradoShelbyGT
What ever came of your oddball suspension issue? Did it ever get corrected? I don't remember seeing a post as to why it was so off? Stump, In the June 2007 Grassroots Motorsports Magazine there is mention of this issue. (Vol 24, Number 4, page 102) They were prepping a 2006 GT for track duty and had installed the Handling Pack that is going into the SGT's. "While the Handling Pack cured many of our problems, it managed to cause one one, too. The rear end had been shifted off-center, a common trait found in lowered S197-chassis Mustangs. When the car is lowered, the Panhard bar pushes the three-link rear suspension too far toward the driver's side. To fix that problem, we decided to upgrade the Panhard bar and its brace to a Steeda adjustable set. The adjustable bar allowed us to recenter the rear end with little more than a turn of a wrench. While we were down there, we replaced the brace since the stock one looked pretty flimsy. The new Panhard setup dropped about five pounds from the rear end of the car, gave us some adjustability and beefed things up a bit. On track the car felt much tighter and better connected to the track -- just the drive you want for lap-after-lap enjoyment." --Ben Cotton Hope that helps. I would think that SAI or Ford would be addressing this issue. If you haven't seen a copy of Grassroots Motorsports, its a pretty nice magazine. I don't think axle alignment was the culprit. Of course I could be wrong. The panhard is the same thing (give or take) in a Jeep that's called a trackbar. Whenever you adjust the lift, the trackbar will pull the axle to one side but I have never had one lift a Jeep higher on one side than the other. Of course a Jeep is not a Mustang but I would think the basic geometry is the same. Heck, it was Lawrence that had the problem, right? I get confused sometimes......
ColoradoShelbyGT
I guess I was a little confused myself. You're right, Lawrence had the problem with one side being higher than the other, not the rear end being off center. Oops.
07SGT0057
Hey Barry, it was a combination of things. From tires, swaybars, and springs, adjustments.. the frame is okay.. i don't want to go over it because i'll just rant man, but its fixed is what's important. The dealer only supplied me with the hood scoop, the rest my own money. Total cost about $600. I got them all fixed here www.chicanesport.com .
