Retired GT-H cars bring some good $$

Hertz retired four Shelby GT-Hs recently and sent them to auction. I dont think any one except Amy B. and Mr.Shelby himself would have thought that the retired rental cars would do so good. Four 2006 Black and Gold Shelby GT-H "Hertz Cars" were offered and sold on November 17th at the Manheim Auto Auction in Manheim, PA. This is a dealer only auction and not open to the general public. These prices should therefore be regarded as "dealer wholesale".Just think, these were sold to dealers expecting to resell and make a profit.

These GT-H's are among the first to be retired from rental service. All had the standard Hertz equipment. Specific serial number information was not available. Sale prices appeared to be driven principally by mileage:

3936 Miles $90,000

4185 Miles $79,500

5598 Miles $72,500

5769 Miles $68,000 B) Mark

I brought him home from the hospital in #362 when he was born. :(

Remember when you did that. Oh, well...by the time he's old enough to drive it, who knows what they'll have ready for him!

Remember, these are just the first few 'special' low mileage cars. You might still have a chance. If not, you can always pick up a cherry '06 GT a few years from now. You'll have a good amount of time to build him one.

If you were talking to me Crispy, I am waiting until this spring when they said they were pulling their cars from the rental fleet. Did I mention I am getting some serious cramps in my hands with my fingers being crossed for so long???

We still have them in Hawaii at Honolulu Airport (five rentals) and on island of Maui (three rentals). No word when the local Hertz office is going to send them to auction (probably to California). Nice to see them cruising around.

I did a search the other day on Hertz.com for Port Columbus here in Ohio and they still have them listed. When Iasked about them coming out of service there last year I was told probably around June or so. They are also an independant franchise and not run by Hertz itself.

Do know how much do they rent for in Columbus? I like to rent one for the weekend sometime ithis April 07.

Hi Mark- Is there any way to get more info from mannheim auctions? Mine went thru there, #332 with 5229 miles and I'd love to know more about it (don't even have it yet - Monday!)
