cravincane
I took the factory/museum tour in July, I was looking at my pictures and could not remember the history of this car. It was at the front door, it was green and just behind the wheel (like GT500 or GT350) it said EXP 500 CSS. Can anyone fill me in? Thanks, Phil
CSX/C5ZZ
Good question about a very interesting car. The EXP500 was an experimental test car, also known as the Green Hornet. The car was to have been destroyed when Shelby was done with it but some how it slipped away and survived.it had independent rear suspension and even fuel injection at one time.the car was equipped with alot of options including air conditioning.Shelby coupes were never going to be sold to the public but were used as racing and experimental cars. Its a miracle that it survived. B) Mark
RichS
The green 500 CSS by the door is actually a licensed product built by Barry Smith in Pennsylvania. His method is to take a regular late '60s Mustang and build it out to Shelby's original specifications from the period. It's not a restomod like the GT500E, it's a faithful reproduction to original Shelby specs. We also have a black one but it's not out on display. -Rich Sparkman Shelby Automobiles, Inc. DeLa1Rob
Rich, Is there a weblink for info on this CSS car? robin
RichS
I just visited their parent company's website and it doesn't link to anything related to their Shelby operation. If you like you can visit their website at: http://www.smithtransport.com They haven't been producing these very long and the two we have, I believe, are #1 and #2 of their production. -Rich
