cutter
Raining here today so I drove to see a GT 500 in person, blue with white stripes...first of all, I can't figure out how this small in the middle of nowhere dealer has one. (president's award winner) but big deal...showroom only could hold two cars....anyways, the stripes are cheap looking and didn't impress me at all, I liked the interior better than my 03 Mach 1, the speakers in the doors look like pie pans...there huge...worth an ADM...no way...I can easily wait until the hype dies down..saleman was nice enough but told me production was limited to 7K over 3 years, his jaw dropped when I told him it was at least 7K a year for three years...but a nice guy who opened it all up so we could sit in it, says he expects it to bring 70K on there e-bay auction and has turned down 65K...at least I've put it to rest now that I've seen one...so the waiting begins...I got pics if anyone wants me to post them. BadTony
nice pics. However, I find it very interesting that this particular car does not have someones name attached to it. Perhaps a PL holder? Does not make sense that this dealer would have a GT500 in their showroom before a higher priority order (or dealer for that matter). I mean that even a retail order (one belonging to a customer) should have a higher priority than on that the dealer plans to let sit in his showroom waiting for an Ebay over the top bid to emerge. hmmm... Is it any wonder these dealers are asking $70K? Some of them will hold out for months, thinking they will get it. If this doesn't sell for $65 - $70k in the next month, better be cutting the price quickly. Not a clue.

I would have been tempted to bet him the ADM that it wasn't built on June 2nd and a significant down payment that it wasn't built at the Shelby plant. LOL...that might teach him to NOT be so stupid. Chip Chip, I actually got wind that there were almost 30 pre-production sellable Shelbys made and I guess this could be one of them, but they were all made in Flat Rock! Here you go.. cutter, Thanks for posting the pictures, they are great! I love the "deer in the headlights" comments! Funny stuff! I noticed that they had applied the dealer logo on the trunk. I asked my dealership if they had any heartache leaving it off of mine and they were fine with that. Hope everyone remembers to ask their dealers to leave it off if that is what they want. 5.4 Shelby
Does not make sense that this dealer would have a GT500 in their showroom before a higher priority order (or dealer for that matter). President's award dealers are the high priority dealers when it comes to GT500 distribution. The Darryl Hazel letter explains it. Other Ford releases have stated the priority order was PL holder, Pres Award, Full SVT, SVT Focus, any dealer that signs up. I have not seen any PL holder cars delivered, however. 68fastback
Here's a link to that dealer! Bauer Ford I figured that out by the friggin' plaque they revited ontot he trunk! Can you believe -- who the is gonna buy that car at any price now.... it's damaged good to a car guy -- Sheesh! Are they nuts? They've gotta be small -- their total '07 inventory, cars and trucks, Ford and LM is about 25 -- ya gotta love it!
mcle
Cutter a REAL big THANKS you just got my PSDS up another notch Did they realy rivet the dealer badge on that sucker If they did that was stupid if they did I know that dealer advertising is important but not on a car where they are wanting a HIGH ADM. When I was shopping around in May, I can tell you that I found many GT500s without a name attached. I'd have to look at my spreadsheet, but my recollection is at least 40% of dealers I talked to were not taking deposits or orders...most were taking names to call when the car hit the ground so interested parties could bid on it. Take away: ADM is going away quicker than most think. Most "lists" are bogus. Most dealers think their lists are not bogus. Most dealers will be schooled rather quickly. Amen, especially if Fords announcement recently that they will make GT500s at a rate of 10% of total mustang production.. the way the line was running in June, it would be about 153,000 'stangs or 15K GT500s, but don't bet on that yet, since Tremec may still be the critical hard-part constraint. But I'm getting fairly optimistic that we'll see at least 12K GT500s this model year (just a guess, mind you)...if we can verify Tremec capacity, that will blow the ADMs out of the water big-time... we shall see. BadTony
what's a few extra thousand units between enthusiasts? I won't be mad, sad or even feel bad. I don't understand how all these other cars are appearing at dealerships when PL holders are not getting theirs yet. Could these be the VIP cars Andrew and SVT said were being built first? I think I'll wait it out this time, I fell for the "rarity" story when I ordered my Mach 1 in 03, by the end of the year they were offering rebates and selling for invoice, production will be higher for this car and the cost is 15K higher...I could be wrong but by next spring I still say anyone who wants to spend the cash will be able to buy one at MSRP or less. I have heard stories that several different dealers had bought power lease letters from the owners who just decided to cash in and pay of their cobras. This might explain a few of the cars at dealerships! Just a thought!

Could these be the VIP cars Andrew and SVT said were being built first? I think the PL scam is one of the biggest Ford has pulled. Especially seeing at least a dozen new 07 Stangs coming to dealership where I ordered my car & still no exact build on mine just a week. My PL Shelby is still a month out and the dealer has pages and pages of std fair mustangs coming in. Around here there are bunches and bunches of regular 07 mustangs at dealers but not a single Shelby. My Shelby seems it will be the first in town but a MONTH away yet? Half the cars coming in are Pony 6 cyl cars In short the PL holders got a royal hosing!

Alloy Dave
I won't be mad, sad or even feel bad. I like Shelbys in the sun, I like the alloy on the run. I hate gas guzzler, that's for sure. I hate 3,900 lbs, that's cow manure. 500 HP is strong, although we all want more. Shed 300 lbs and this car would be bad to the core. Brembo brakes, will stop us fast. That Sirius radio antenna, they call a mast. Huge tires are good, they'll help you hook up. Let the forthcoming Camaro try to run with this pup. Carroll is old, but he still smokes the tires. We need to engineer that valet mode, re-rout some wires. Swapped tach and speedo, that's cool. The engineer that invented this is at the proper end of the gene pool. GT500 for now, it'll tame us fans. But KR may come later, hopefully with ZERO fart cans. So for now we wait...for that precious VIN. But soon we'll have HP, and will drive like sin. Sorry awatt...couldn't help taking off on the "green eggs and ham" verse. :happy feet: Dave

The dealership near me is a PA winner, and they haven't had one pulled yet. I recently found out that I was moved from #2 in line to #1 in line, so I'll be the second or third person to know when the VIN is assigned. OK, maybe the fifth or sixth.
