BadTony
can anyone who's taken delivery (dealer or customer) calculate how long between VIN assignment and actual delivery date and share their findings?
intguys
THE QUESTION SHOULD'VE BEEN TIME OF CAR GETTING BUILT AND ACTUAL DELIVERY CAUSE THERE ARE TOO MANY VARIABLES BETWEEN VIN ASSIGNMENT AND ACTUAL DELIVERY SUCH AS PLANT SHUT DOWNS, MATERIAL HOLDS, QUALITY CHECKS ETC....... MY CAR HAD A VIN ASSIGNED IN LATE MAY MY BUILD DATE WAS 6/19 MY ETA WAS 6/26 THEN IT WAS 7/3 THEN IT WAS 7/10 AND NOW IT IS 7/?????????
rbortnick
can anyone who's taken delivery (dealer or customer) calculate how long between VIN assignment and actual delivery date and share their findings? From what I understand and have been told. VIN number means nothing as far as delivery. Its the build date thats assigned to your car that means everything. Ask your dealer what the build date is. I have been told aprox. 21 days after your build date your car should be at the lot. Hope this helps
BadTony
not worried about actual build date, just wanna know how long after serialization (VIN assignment) that these cars are taking to get all the way to the dealerships. Because I am financing a portion of this venture, my bank requires a VIN # before the check can be processed (once dealership cashes check) The bank I am using only issues checks with valid usage period for 45 days. oldimp
I can only tell you that I got my VIN on 24 April and I believe I will have the car by the end of the week, for safety's sake say 14 July. That would be 80 days (barring miscalculation) if the delivery actually happens. I can try to update this after I have the car. Hope this helps. I think you'll need to take into account that since the Shelbys did not start getting produced til 06 Jun 06, then your order would have been pulled probably a week or so before it was built. Worse case scenario, order pulled 1 Jun 06 (or so). So that's pretty darn good turn-around time. About six weeks. Not too shabby!

This would make the average time even less between vin# and delivery for most of us.
BadTony
my guess is (if what he says is true), that the car was built before the 1 July shutdown. So that time wouldn't be negatively counted anyway.
