For me its the price that will affect my desire to purchase the most. I don't need the fastest car on the block but this car will someday br a part of history and that makes it important.

Right on Sudds. It won't be mass produced and when the sad day comes of Carroll's passing it will be legendary part of history. To share w/ your kids and grandkids. BTW I voted sig other as a rethink, according to her 1 other must go to bring in another. I think she meant me not the other two stangs! lol! I'm still locked in w/ my deposit at Pistilli Ford and holding strong!

Last July I placed a $1000 deposit with the dealers' promise of MSRP. I am #1 on the list . The only thing that would keep me from getting this car would be if this dealer goes back on his word and wants more than sticker price. I have it in writing on his order form and he cashed my check, but with all that has been said on these ,and other boards I'm still worried. He is also a Saleen dealer so he should have realized the value of this car when he made the promise. He also had recieved the alottment "E" mail from Ford so he knew how many he should get.

I guess I just don't trust these dealers when it comes to $$$$$$.

We're at the mercy of the mighty exchange rate, currently around 20%.

If MSRP is 40K x 20% exchange = 48,000.00 x 15% tax = 7200.00

Totaling 55,200.00 out the door without any markups. Throw in a markup or an inflated MSRP and it's getting tougher to justify as a working class stiff.

OUCH !!

I agree with C-Horse & Suds. This is a car I want to keep until I cannot drive anymore, then pass it on to a deserving family member. The only thing that would keep me off of this thing is (most likely) dealer mark-up. If it comes to that, I'll wait & take my chances. I'm 1st on the dealer list @ Bonnell Ford in Massachusetts, no deposit, and yes, I'm nervous too. Hey, if I get bounced it's not the end of the world (not quite).

I just hope it doesn't play that way...

Basically agree with the other posters, Hope it stays in my price range, backed out of a deal on an 05 to wait on the Shelby and I hope that decision bears fruit. Want to pass this car on to a grandkid one day and look forward to years of weekend driving before then. Fingers Crossed!

I also have two kids that have started dividing up the estate. They're not interested in the house  they want the cars.

My 10 year old son wants my Bullitt and my 16 old daughter has dibs on the GT500. I would love to be able to do it.....after I'm done beating up on them though.

I would check with your insurance and ask about the Shelby with a teenage driver. When I had my supercharged Cobra Mustang my number 1 son turned 16 and AAA insurance who we had been with for 23 years doubled my insurance to almost $5,000 a year. They told me that even if I did not permit him to drive the Cobra that the risk was there that he might get the keys. I changed insurance companies but they said the same thing and still wanted $4,000 per year. I sold the Cobra and bought an Escort so the kids could drive something besides mom and dads cars. I hope you have a better company than I had.

He He I'm just an uncle so the kids all get to drive the toys. I figure that they deserve the same opportunity's my sister and I had. Then they can make they're own choice. My nephew already has. He wants my 97 when I get the GT500 and I'm even gonna cover the insurance for a year. I figure its like firearms; if you teach them respect and control you stand a good chance of them making you proud.

I know my insurance agent personally and she knows I'd never give my 16 year old the keys to either of my rides. Not only that I live pretty close to downtown Toronto and my driveway is only 7 feet wide. My wife and kids can't even watch me drive in or back out of my driveway without cringing much less try it themselves. :D

Although, I have been letting her drive my truck up at my parents cottage on the ol country roads for about two years now. For her 16th birthday she wants a day of driving instruction at a local driver training and advance courses. This guy is an ex racer and he runs courses from beginner to lapping sessions.

I will no doubt get her the day there. I consider it an investment.
