mcduck
I'm going to be ordering my GT500 convertible in the next week or two (just waiting on the dealership to let me know they can put the order in) and am pretty set on going Alloy with no stripes, but I have been considering ordering a stripe kit separately and doing something different with it. Thought I'd throw out some quick photoshops here to see what the forum members think. The first pic of each set is the factory stripe, the second is the custom stripe (factory stripe minus the wide center section), and the last is sans stripe. Just post whether you like type 1, 2, or 3 the best. 1. 2. 3. another view... 1. 2. 3. last one... this time on a coupe... 1. 2. 3.
ColdwaterHotrod
I thought about doing the samething but adding tungsten over the top stripes to it for the alloy vert or getting a white coupe or vert with the stripe delete option so I can order the red interior & then order the Blue stripes to put on it after it comes in so it's different then the rest. If I could have ordered it that way, it would be one awesome looking car with all that RED, WHITE & BLUE & of coarse the black trim....I can see it now? Ford will be saying DAM! that looks good! lets do it for 2008! Yeah, that's what I was thinking when it wasn't offered (not a bold move)

cobra2go
It's been discussed on this forum before, you should do whatever you would like your car to appear. It's your car, you paid for it, do your own thing, and have fun! I'm getting a tungsten vert with the stripe delete. I've booked the car into a trim shop here to do some custom striping - over the hood metallic silver stripes lined up with the hood ducts and door fader stripes with GT500 at the end (similar to what's on my avatar, though it is pretty hard to see). RUFDRAFT
:happy feet: Andy - you crack me up! I'll bet you'd drive me nuts if we went out to eat and had to order! Order - the - car! (I should tell y'all how many emails we've exchanged about the colors he's considering! - Worse than my wife picking out shoes, okay? ) Here's my favorite. mcduck
thanks for the (kind of) input, guys! I'm definitely ordering my GT500 sans stripes. I was just toying around with photoshop and stumbled across the possibility of adding the side stripes without the thick center stripe section (but leaving the GT500 lettering). Thought it looked pretty good... at least better than the full stripe. Figure, for now, if I start with no stripes, I can always add them. If it comes with factory stripes, would be harder to take them off. And I have to agree with Terry1234... if I do add them later, definitely will go with the silver instead of the tungsten stripes. Someone actually agrees with me? That's a first. :P Dave
mach1fever
I didn't think stripes were an option on verts? Are you talking about side stripes only?

mcduck
I didn't think stripes were an option on verts? Are you talking about side stripes only? yep... sidestripes only, but I suppose if you purchased them separately or just painted them on later, you could easily add over the top stripes on a convertible as well. mcduck
Just got confirmation about my order. I'm supposed to have my deposit (which goes towards the car) and my order specs ready by next Tuesday to place the order! My order is definitely in this lottery group everyone is talking about now, but they cannot tell me yet how high or low on the lottery list I'll be yet (maybe they haven't actually conducted the lottery yet?!?!). Getting really excited now! Seems I've been waiting forever just to place my order. Will be going sans side stripes to start. Once I have the car, I'll decide if I want to add the 'vert or full coupe stripe kit.

However, I'm sure that even for a couple weeks after that we won't know anything about who got allocated what...the info will likely trickle out slowly. Perhaps Five Oh or isellford can help us in early September to figure this one out. Dave

I only wanted to pay MSRP, I didn't need to be first to have one, I wanted delivery no later than my next birthday (Mar 12, 2007)... sooner if possible. The news I have today is that my source is definitely in that lottery and my delivery date will be dependent on how high they draw. They are taking my order next Tuesday (I was given a very specific day) so maybe the lottery is this weekend or something. ???

I have a feeling if this is done only by Regional Representatives selecting a number; someone’s getting cash under the table to get some diverted to their region or territory first to make up for ADM’s? Or maybe we should now call them RDM’s (Regional District Mark-ups.)
mcduck
I have a feeling if this is done only by Regional Representatives selecting a number; someone’s getting cash under the table to get some diverted to their region or territory first to make up for ADM’s? Or maybe we should now call them RDM’s (Regional District Mark-ups.) tough to say. It definitely would not be cost effective to have every dealership send/connect someone to the lottery. On the otherhand, in order to determine who is in the lottery they would have to have a comprehensive list of each dealer, how they rank, and so forth. If everything is to be fair and above board, I would think each regional rep is only 'representing' dealers in their area and that when the drawing occurs, each one would include the specific dealer info for who (dealership) is to receive that lottery pick. Of course, this is all speculation. I'm just happy to have more information than I did at this time last week. Maybe I'll luck up and be able to pick up my Shelby before Xmas! :happy feet:
