From what I was told, the Boss was pushed back to get the GT500 in production. . .

That makes sense, but, if so, that means Ford already knows exactly what the Boss will be. Of course they can change it, but I'm suprised there haven't been any 'leaks', intentional or otherwise' on some specifics. I find that curious, don't you robert?

If they do whats right... a 302 v8 hopefully putting 350 to the ground ( 400 at the flywheel) in the $35 000 ish price range. Thats what we all want, something to over take a gt, but not just as powerfull as a 500.

I'm wondering if the Saleen Boss331 motor isn't a sort of prototype for it... shown at NYIAS in April

The Parnelli Boss302 Saleen showed was rated around (cand remember exact nums) 375HP/370lb-ft -- a nice bump on the aluminum GT motor... maybe that's the 'new' GT motor for when the Camaro hits the streets (the little V8 camaro)... just speculating, no actual info...

In 2009, we may be stuffing corn down our fill pipes. :hysterical:

Yeah, I want one now! -- real gas-burning horsepower!! (insert Tim Allen ugh, ugh, ugh here) :happy feet:

Ok, future alternative fuel ads: "Beans make better gas" :hysterical2:

"Cows: food, drink and fuel!" :hysterical:

Did you hear about the Ford Super Chief concept truck at the NYIAS that use a specially developed modular V10 with an on-demand blower? It combusts (not a fuel cell) hydrogen and dynamically kicks in the blower as needed; or gasoline; or E85 -- all with super-low emissions. They wouldn't disclose the power but said it was considerably more than the present truck motors.

My personal gripe with E85 is that it's just a political ruse to throw a bone to the farmers because the E85 production process consumes considerably more energy per btu produecd than gasoline. Further, if ALL PRODUCTIVE FARMLAND IN THE USA was converted to ethanol production, it would offset only a small portion of our oil consumption (about 14% if I remember correctly); of course, there'd no room to grow food to eat but, hey, let's not be picky now <lol> But I guess it can relax some of the peak demand for gas. It works well in Brazil, but that have sooooo many more acres of farmland per mile driven than the US does. Besides, mileqage is poorer on E85 and it'd rot the fuel system on our old cars/truck!!! Me? I want 101 octane crystal-clear Amoco super premium from the 60s forever!!! Yum! (Of course, that won't happen, but...)

And hydrogen, my favorite 'ruse', is really just a storage medium, like a battery -- a place to store energy -- as opposed to a fuel 'resource', because hydrogen, though more efficient to 'combust' in a fuel cell than gas in an IC engine, is actually far less efficient overall than gas because the energy required to produce (extract) hyrdogen from H2O consumes huge amounts of energy that far outweigh the gains in use! So we can all drive zero emissions vehicles that actually polute the planet many fold more than gas because the energy to extract the hydrogen will be coming from coal-fired powerplants, which account for the vast majority of base-load electricity production in the US.

That's why I like the tac Ford is taking on research into combusting hydrogen in an internal combustion engine. If hydrogen is ever cost-feasible, engines that combust it more traditionally will have a huge cost advantage over fuel cells for at least the first decade or so, and it seems that Ford is alone on that approach and research. Of course they're also doing Fuel cell research with Ballard Systems and others but are leading the charge on this intermediate approach to combust hydrogen in a traditional engine during the technology transition... a very insightfull strategy and one that fits very nicely with Fords experience and research with superchargers.

Oh, heck, I better shut up now.... this is so far off topic (unless the Boss 330 runs on meadow-muffins) :hysterical:
