Handguns and Shelbys

RUFDRAFT

Recommended Posts

Times are different now, even if you live in a relatively safe area it doesn't take the bad guys long to travel from there neighborhood to yours. Robbers and car jackers didn't use to kill every one they victimized. You say let them have the car your life isn't worth it, well they just might kill you any way. I have trained to where I feel I am proficient, Very cautious about the handling and location of my guns. And I have tried to prepare for some common scenarios the best I can.

I got stopped for a traffic violation a long time ago and when the officer asked me if I had any weapons I said yes and told him under the passenger seat in a zipper bag (clip was in and chambered) and I almost got arrested for carrying a concealed weapon with out a permit. He put the gun in the trunk and said to keep it there. I haven't carried it in the car for a while but times have changed so I may have to re-think it.

Probably 1/3 or more crimes would not occur if the victims either didn't put them selves in a bad position or situation and or paid attention to there surroundings and consciously thought about there personnel safety more often..

Yeah, I carry...but not to protect my car. The statistics show that states that allow CCW have reduced violent crime rates. Don't you find it interesting that in the states that don't allow CCW or severely restrict it, all the politicos have armed bodyguards? Hmmmmm.

Off the soap box now.

Your joking right? here in the peoples socialist republic of calliforicate formally known as California.

The politician carry guns.

1. Politicians write laws that make it hard to get & restrict CCW. Then, when they can’t qualify under the laws they wrote they just write an exception for themselves i.e. Don Perada. Just about all the bay area politician carry. Fienstine Boxer you know the ones that want us to give up our guns. :hysterical2:

2. If you injure a criminal in the act of committing a crime against you the criminal can sue you and win.

3. Disarm a criminal using a gun to hold you up, Gut the gun away from him, use his own gun to hold him at bay while a by stander get the police at your request. What happens? You both go to jail; the criminal is out in two - that’s 2hrs. and he is free walking the streets again. While you are drilled and held for eight hrs plus. Why because it is normal for a criminal be Violent and use a gun in a crime, but as a law abiding citizen you are not expected to defend yourself let alone take the gun away from the would be ???

4. In calliforicate if you are lucky to get a CCW it is only good for the city you

registered for the CCW, you cannot cross city lines and legally carry. you must register for each city you want a CCW for. Some area it goes by county.

5. Here is my favorite P.S.R.of callifonicate law.

Your gun safe must be approved by the callifornicate District Attorney in order to legally store your guns. If you have a gun safe that is UL rated that is not legal.

The difference between the two. The callifonicate District Attorney approved safe is NOT theft proof. The UL rated safe is. Can you figure that one out daaaaaa….

Just some example of the backwards world of the peoples socialist republic of calliforicate.. Worthless lib-cess pool of America.

Calliforicate’s motto is Welcome everything here is Illegal except to pay higher taxes each year. Crime here is bad.

Ok I am going to go before I really get on my going on my Denise Miller style rant. calliforicate politics not good.

OOBuck and Sabot slugs loaded alternately

Ouch. That's gonna leave a mark.

I'll carry either my 40 cal Browning High Power, or my .357 Colt Special (former back up of choice for law enforcement). Those I can conceal. The .44 Mag long barrel is a little more difficult to keep out of view. When I carry that one, it is out in the open.

I pray that I never need to use any of them. I also pray that I don't wind up in a situation where I wished I hadn't left them at home, either.

I always thought it was "COOL" to carry. When I came to Iraq and could carry so I could save my life, I thought it was even better. But, since I stopped carrying here, I stopped getting shot at.

I have a nice collection at the house but when I'm out in the car, I don't think twice about it. I take the biggest weapon I have! The Wife... South Georgia Redneck Girl that will cut you from A--hole to Appetite and not miss a beat! Don't get me wrong, there is a time and place for it but these days, I would rather give the bad guy what he wants and live to see my kids/Grandkids next B-day.

I'm with you 100%. I don't ever.....well almost never....take a gun in the car with me. I just don't think that if I am driving this car I will be in a place that I need it and really not much good can come from it in my opinion. Unless you play for the pacers you really don't need a gun around here (for some reason they all seem to need one to return fire and shoot up the nudy bars). My hand gun is locked up so tight I'd never get it in time if the house was broken into but do keep shot guns around that are easier to reach for (not so much here but at the lake house in MI where it's a little more rural). Everyone knows that sound so in I hope to never have to use it for protection but that is the reason it was bought as I don't hunt. I've gone to the range a few times with the hand gun and enjoy shooting at targets...although i am a crappy shot with a hand gun so I'd likely be in the news for something stupid if I had to shoot that to save me anyway. I'm shockingly good with a rifle though shooting lefty since I have dain bramage from boxing and see poorly with my right eye.

It's all about the SIG. I stop going to the range for a little. I was getting so good it was shocking. I would bring my Kel-Tec and my Ruger and two of my Sig With me to the range. the Ruger. would shot at 25 yards or feet I do not remember a hit bull’s eye than put that down. I put up a new paper and would take out the SIG I would hit it again. I Put a new paper and take out the Kel-Tec move it to 100 yards or feet and hit the bull’s eye again.

I'm a gun owner and enthusiast, but I don't carry. Too many things to go wrong. If someone puts a gun in my face and wants the car, they can have it. NO car is worth losing your life, or the life of a passenger. If you have a gun, you put yourself in the position of making yourself a much bigger threat to someone, thus making it more likely they are going to try to take your life to better protect themselves. On top of all that:

1) you run the risk of the gun being stolen from your car if it's broken into (and possibly being used against innocent people).

2) police officers do NOT like hearing you have a weapon in the vehicle when you are pulled over for speeding.

3) if you are registered for concealed carry, the police will almost always make you exit your vehicle/hassle you extensively in a traffic stop.

4) you cannot cross a border with a weapon.

Too many negatives. Now if someone were to break into my house in the middle of the night, they'd better act fast or be really quiet, as I am of a very different mind set in a situation like that.

This is a touchy subject for me as I've had a CHL for several years now, and I always carry, especially in the cobra and especially with the top down. I've already had one jacking attempt, but pulled away as he was trying to jump in the car. Last time I put the top down, in down-town, in the evening w/o looking around first.

On another note, I've been pulled over, a lot, and its a 50/50 chance that the cop will let me go b/c I've got the CHL. You always tell them you have one, immediately, and give them your license, when you give them your other license.

Lastly, seeing as the nearest border is to Mexico, and Lojack doesn't work down by the frontera, I'm not too concerned with crossing while strapped.

Just my .02

Greetings,

I have a CCW since 1989 and have never been hassled by the law over it, if anything they treat you with some respect. They also want to get the hell away from you ASAP :hysterical2:

They do usually make you get out and disarm but not always. Several times they just said "keep your hands where I can see em'". No problem officer.

I carry a small gun, kel tec .32.

KC666

KC: couldn't agree with you more, both hands on the wheel, turn on the dome light if its at night, lots of respect when they know I'm carrying and I immediately identify myself.

Also, love the kel tec .32, that's what I carry, but I got the belt clip which really helps keeping it hidden and out of sight.

too many to list, but Glock .40 cal, Smith bodyguard .357, Smith 1911 .45, Taurus PT145 .45, Taurus .44 mag, Smith .44 mag, Beretta .40 cal, etc., but never anything lesser caliber than my two shot .38 derringer (usually as a back-up to one of the various others). I'm old school - don't feel comfortable with 9mm or less.

I know lot's of people don't think 9mm has good stopping power, but with the right loads, is very comparable to .40 cal. and a Glock model 17 gives an enormous amount of fire power. Test done on penetration through windshield of a auto when I was with San Jose P.D. At approx. 45 degree angle, fired 9mm and .45 cal. into windshield. Both calibers deflected from their path of travel. Straight into windshield, both calibers penetrated and stayed on path of travel. I have a beautiful Springfield 1911 but don't carry it on a regular basis because of it's capacity compared to the G17. I call the 1911 my "dress up" pistol. The G17 is my workhorse and with the 17+ rd. capacity with +P loads either in 115 or 124 grain will do the job, providing one shot stopping power in the lower 80% range and if you can't do a one shot stop, lot's of backup available.

When I travel, depending on what states I am driving through, I will also carry a Kel-Tec Sub 2000 in 9mm with a couple of Glock 33 rd. mags that also fit into the G17. Can't EVER have enough fire power. Personally been there and crapped my pants.

I carry a 9mm beretta in my daily driver tahoe. I have a firearm permit and this gun is registered; however I've never bothered

to take it in any of my other cars, guess it makes no sense. I to would hate to use it, but I don't think I would want to be without it.

I live in Texas, which as most of you know, is considered the "shotguns and pickup trucks" demographic. So, it goes without saying that 1.) I have a concealed handgun license and 2.) I pack a Glock 27 right along with my briefcase everday before heading off to work. I've listened to both sides of the debate and in a weird way, I agree with them both. However, you cannot possibly understand things until you've been a victim in one way or another of unprovoked violence. Your perspective will seriously change my friend when you're facing down the barrel of a loaded handgun with nothing to protect yourself with but your bare hands. Sure, many things can - and sometimes do - go wrong when you have the temptation of defending yourself with lethal force in the back of your head. But, I'd much rather play the odds in my favor then sink everything I've got on a losing horse (so to speak).

I carry two Guns my left and my right. I have been training in Martial Arts for the past 20 years and use Martial Arts everyday. It has taught me to recognize potential dangerous situations and have been able to avoid these problems along with using the proper mental attitude to ignore people that need a whoopin. On another note I enjoy guns as well I have sevearl myself.

If you take concealability out of it, the Glock 17 is probably the best battle pistol made thus far IMHO. Im sure many will disagree. They are tremendously accurate and easy to shoot and shoot well and guns dont get more reliable.
