STSVT
Is the spare tire compartment empty (other than the can of fix a flat) or is it redesigned for this car? The spare tire area is not used for anything at this time, from what i believe, it was taken out to remove some weight from the car thats what ford performance has said. bill0754
That would be a perfect place for the nitrous bottle! Tucked away and hidden I called SVT and found out that instead of the tire, we get an air compresser and a patch kit. At least it's better than a can of Fix-A-Flat! DVS2XS
I like Kaylan's idea. I have a carbon-wrapped bottle, a couple of soleniods, a few nozzles,...all sitting in the garage. Something to think about.
Niswonger
Ive seen a lot of applications of a free air subon a baffle board with the amp in place of the spare tire.

Three Cobras
The official reason was weight reduction, but I'll throw a BS flag on that. I'm betting the problem is that the standard space-saver spare wheel would not fit over the 14" Brembos. Likely the rear tire won't clear on the front either. Call me a wuss, but I'd like to find a space-saver spare. Any idea how to cross refernce what's on the market to see if it'll fit? I have tried to buy a new SSS from a Ford dealer but he said they are not available. Anyone know if that's true? Don't like the idea of being stuck in East Birdshit and awaiting AAA from somewhere equally remote. Got stuck once. Don't want to repeat that experience. DVS2XS
WUSS! Actually I feel the same way. A spare would be nice. Does anyone know the minumum diameter that will clear the brembo calipers?

At least it's better than a can of Fix-A-Flat! Really? So you're gonna break down the tire, patch it, re-seat it and inflate it while it's teetering on a sissor jack? Oh, wait, is there a jack? Probably not because it's not required to lift a can of Fix-A-Flat! All I can say is...."Good Luck". I like the NOS idea, but I think I'll use the same bottle and fill it with helium so I can get the nose a little heavier. bj

442forever(noolds)
Yeah. And a nice touch would be to stripe the spare covers to work with the paint scheme.

DutchGT500
"...I'd like to find a space-saver spare" too. JB I think you need a 17 inch wheel at least. That will give enough room for emergency ride home. From performance standpoint you need an 18 inch wheel for cooling brakes.
Three Cobras
I doubt the 17" rim will fit over the Brembos, that's way the car's regular wheels are 18" to begin with. I have 13" Baers on my '93 Cobra and they barely fit inside the 17" stock Cobra alloy wheels.

Have you ever seen an 18 inch SS wheel?

THREE COBRAS I agree the space saver spare would never fit over those brembos i didnt even think of that . The space would be good for nos, very cooool. Three Cobras
No I haven't, PJ, and that's my point. Maybe someone else does know of one that might fit. The SS wheel for my 93 is actually a 15" with the same rolling diameter as the 17" rim / tire combo onthe Cobra. It would fit over the standard Mustang GT calipers originally fitted to my 93, that's why it's in there. This will take some research. It might be worth trying a Mustang GT SS just in case the combo is shallow enough. Worth a try, but I don't think it'll work. I'm going to look when I get a chance. It also might be possible to machine a spacer to move the rim outwards. I'm just trying to make sure I can get out of a bad place, I don't expect to race the car on it. STSVT - Yah. NOS or moving the battery back there. Not sure what the gain would be with the battery. Not as much as with a 2004 and older since the battery in those cars is forward of the front axle. Battery in this car is next to firewall, so weight shift to rear wheels and away from front wheels will be less.
DutchGT500
Right. Shallow was the word I was looking for. Forgive me being a non English speaking European. SS rims have a funny appearance as they are shallow and strange offset so rim surface is very outward from the center, if you know what I mean. Three Cobras
PJ - Having lived in Europe for two years, I learned I needed to speak something other than English to get everything I wanted, and go everywhere I wanted to go. Living in Italy, I learned Italian. Ultimately I had a goal of learning at least one word in any language (other than 'yes' or 'no'). So I learned that word: CocaCola! Ecco, la macchina molta bravissima - Mustang.
