Corralled a Pony in KY

Getts

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone. I joined the site in mid November when I was ready to buy and am very thankful to everyone for their input. Special thanks to Joker45, LR 01 Cobra, michael morris, ShelbyDude, DubbsFaris, Joe G, Ford blue blood, grubiaco and all the others for taking the time to return my unsolicited PMs; you were all very helpful.

In about a month's time on the site, I was able to find and order a black vert with the red stripe appearance package. On January 4th, about 2 weeks after I ordered, I received a dreadful phone call informing me that my order couldn't be placed. I was back to square one. The following day, I received a phone call about a car I had bid on earlier in December. I had made an offer that had been refused, and they wanted to know if I was still interested. The rest is history.

I flew to Louisville Sunday night, got a room, rented a car and drove about 100 miles south to the dealership; just couldn't bear the thought of not getting this car. I still can't believe I have this car.

At about noon, I was ready to get on the road to make the 800 mile drive home. As fate would have it, the temperature was 71. I was on the road, top down. My first stop was about a mile down the road to fill up with the gas voucher the dealership gave me. I was at the gas station for over an hour! Instant celebrity status. This scene was repeated the entire drive home every time I stopped. Folks taking pictures of the car, the engine; stories about cars they had owned, driven; calling their friends to come look at the car. I finally made it home 18 hours later and of course I couldn't sleep. Washed the car and off I went on another 70 degree day. I spent the rest of the day enjoying the car. Put over a thousand miles on it in the first 24 hours. What a rush! Thanks again to everyone. Here are few pics of the Shelby along with my 03 Cobra vert. Don't they look happy together?

Congrats Getts!!!

I told you it would happen - and it did!

Good for you - and good job following the rules and posting pictures.

So..... what's the first mod you're planning?? :headscratch:

Thanks Joe. Definitely starting with the exhaust. By the way, what do my dues entail and how long before I"m "made"

Great story! Major congrats to you. :happy feet: Your story reminds me that almost a year ago and after looking for one for many months, my dream finally became reality.

These black verts with the red stripes package seem very popular with members of this site these days. That a great combo!

Thanks. Love the car. Where'd you get the production numbers for your red appearance package? Curious about mine.

I called Ford SVT and got the numbers when I requested a certificate. They probably won't have the numbers on the 2008's until the end of this year's run when they get all of the totals together. I believe the number is 1-800-FORDSVT.

Until then enjoy the car.

Getts,

I'm so glad that it worked out for you in the long run. Very nice looking car and great story.

Now you'll really have some history with that car and the way you ended up getting it.

Sounds like your ready for your first oil change already!

Yeah, It's funny how things work out sometimes. Won't be long now for your car. Bet you can't wait. Let Gary know that everything worked out next time you talk to him. He really felt bad when he had to call me and let me know the bad news. Thanks again.
