You guys think it's funny huh? How would you feel if one of you had cracked up your car and we were laughing about it?

Show a little consideration here.

Obviously there needs to be special threads for the 12 and under children on this site. Some must feel some special attention is due for posting a high number of threads, no matter how childish. Lets all wish the best for the driver and his vehicle.

It did happen. It was one of our group of six who has their cars transported from the East Coast. The driver is ok. A little shakey but ok. The car is did not fair too well. They are trying to find a way to load the car on the trasporter for tomorrow. Looks like it might not be an easy task.

From the condition of the (wall) I am amazed at the impact force. The concrete barrier was moved over one foot from it original placement. I'm sure between the team at Shelby and the rest of us we will figure a way to get his car loaded and back home.

Sorry folks, been racing cars for years, and no one likes to wreck.

Nothing funny about it.

But...If you're going to track it, there is always a risk involved. As long as it's property damage and not personal injury, all is good and it will all work itself out.

Hope all is well among you. Cars can be fixed, even made better than new. Human bodies don't forget.

Whomever was behind the wheel, you're in my prayers. Hope all is well.

Whomever own the car, well, sh*t happens. Nothing that can't get fixed.

First, I'm glad the driver is okay and I feel bad for him that his car was damaged.

Second, You are correct... A couple of the reply posts were not in good form.

Third - Why is there an apparent need for some ShelbyAutos.com Forum members to feel like They Need to Be the Forum Police? (See text below from post on Forum.ShelbyAutos.com)

----------------------------------------

"Actually there were two. One by Master Yoda and one by LuisA. The first mentioned it was close to the manufacturer and then a silly emotioncon. Then the second just showed a silly childish emotioncon in support. They may have edited their own statements by now after having been called to task.

We will all need to be vigilant. The new site is our site. It is the Shelby site so it is an extension of this site.

To paraphrase Edmond Burke, the only thing necessary for evil to exist is for good men to do nothing. We have to control the new site! Constantly calling attention to the children until they are embarassed or change."

-----------------------------------------

Unbelievable... talk about the Pot calling the Kettle black... there's some "real concern" for you...

The merger of the two websites and associated forums (StangUnleased.com & ShelbyAutos.com) into TEAMSHELBY.COM was meant as a Good Thing. But, it's certainly off to a Rocky start, with webpage problems, and now this... the FORUM POLICE.

I can't believe there is already an US against THEM mindset! If it continues, I know I won't be participating for long.

What I do know from being a member of StangsUnleashed for over a year is the SU Forum members are a very humorous, playful, knowledgable, helpful, and friendly group of people. Don't believe me, just check out the OFF TOPIC page where so many have supported RUFDRAFT and his wife through a serious medical issue with prayer, cards and letters, conversation, and even humor. Another example is SuperSnakes pre-mature born granddaughter, Evelyn, who is still in the hospital. So many others have provided general information, technical assistance, legal assistance, and even helped each other find cars to buy. The multitude of topics have been wide and varied, sometimes way out in left field... but the Moderators on the SU Forum did a very good job of keeping outrageous posts to a minimum, especially any that remotely appeared as a Personal Attack.

So, let's all lighten up with the "CONTROL" rhetoric and resolve to enjoy the TEAMSHELBY.com website & forum for it's intended purpose:

An open, free-flowing source and exchange of ideas, information, assistance... By the users, For the users.

Oh, and sometimes laughter is the best medicine...

Proverbs 17:22: "A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones."

Gotta say I have to agree lighten up. While I certainly feel for someone wrecking their baby and hope no one got hurt. That doesn't mean that I can't laugh at a good joke. Sensorship is a slippery slope at best.

A GT500 owner in a SGT forum area laughing at a SGT owner crashing his dream car...wow, and we should lighten up??? We should make light of it at the guys expense? Well, I'm all for having fun and I'm not a fan of censorship....but come on guys......show some heart. Humor is fine but it has its place. This was not it.

It's wars like this that is going to make this Shelby marriage difficult. :banghead:

I agreed with the original posters on the misplaced humor...

In following and reading the link back to the other forum, I came across the discussion of "Control".

My "lighten up" comment was directed to the US/THEM rhetoric...

So, once again... "Lighten Up" TEAM

- No wars, censorship, Forum police, Us/Them, Control, etc.

The 2 sites (SU and SA) has distinct cultures/personalities. What is considered socially acceptable on one site isn't necessarily on the other. Stangsunleashed/teamshelby is very big compared to Shelbyautos. So you have those that are used to living in the "big city", and others that love their "small town" atmosphere.

There will always be issues when you move the small town folks to the big city. Many small town folks love to visit the big city for all the fun and excitement and return to their safe/friendly community

In the real world, the small town folks can always move back if they don't like the big city. On here, the small town is being annexed, so there is no small town to return to.

Well I guess I am now labeld the Forum Police and I have no intent of assuming such role. However, I have been a member of StangsUnleashed and noticed an ongoing series of threads being hijacked and silly emotioncons. People brag about having over a thousand posts, many of which are simply emotioncons.

People should have the right of freedom of speech. I have fought for and defended the right for over 35 years now. However, Freedom isn't free. And speech, like other actions, must be held accountable. What I have urged others to do is to hold those making childish remarks accountable with the hope that the site will be enjoyable and informative for all. Since the ShelbyPublic Forum had a large contingency of SGT owners I said the new site, under the SGT heading, should be our site and I make no apologies for that. And again, people will do bad things until called out. It is the responsibility of all to be polite and pro active but to stand up and do the right thing. Many will not and will avoid the fight at all costs. Others are willing to stand up.

I concur we all need to make this site the best possible and avoid the acrimony that has existed.

Let's get one thing straight here. I do care about someones safety & someones life more than a car, yes, it's only a car.

Second, the folks on this forum board who keep segregating Shelby car models are the ones drawing a line in the sand saying it’s us vs. them, I'm not sure if you think I'm one of them but I'm not & I'm sorry he hit the wall but that's the chance you take any time you go onto the track.

Third, If I owned a Shebly it would never see the track, a purposely built race car made for track use only, yes, it would see the track.

You know darn well that when folks go to a track day event someone is going to end up driving in over their head trying to prove they can go faster then the car was built for or driving over their driving talent instead of just making laps & enjoying the pleasure of just being able to do so safely. I do hope they are OK & they only have a Bruised EGO, but stock cars don't have roll bars & safety cages.

One thing to remember is that once your Dream Car hits the track, your insurance policy is no longer in effect & no claims can be filed for ANY damage that may occur. If you took your so called DREAM car out there & raced it that hard & crashed it, then you must have enough money to repair it, and if you don't then I can think of a couple more discriptive words to add to this statement.

So lighten up forum board police.

Keith, you certainly appear rational and well intentioned. And certainly not mean spirited or childish. However I think we are seeing here what we see on a daily basis. Someone did something wrong and those that stand up are being blamed. We see this on a daily basis from the media. Bad guy does something wrong and is hurt when arrested. It is no longer about the original act but about the bad police. We see it world wide. Terrorists do something bad and then it is the fault of the US. It is always twisted from the original act to blame someone else.

I have no axe to grind against you as I stated you seem mature and well intentioned. I think a lot of this could go away if two people made a simeple acknowledgement that their post was less than proper and we move on. But let's place the blame where it belongs, not transfer to those that were willing to stand up and call attention to it.

Thank you

How about an update Roger? Car loaded for the return trip? How's the driver?

I will speak for myself and say that I just want the SGT forum to be a place for people to exchange information, knowledge, experiences, etc without being riduculed etc. Again, it is our site. The site is what we make it. It is what we tolerate. Do we tolerate and encourage those type of remarks?

Would you have walked up to the driver and made those remarks to his face immediately after the accident?

Probably not.

We do not, or at least should not, require Bud, John, and Amy to monitor us. We should control our own site.

Let's hope everyone has learned a lesson in civility, and not see reoccurences, and move on.

I had a whole big speech about all of this but It's just not worth the arguing, so I'll leave it at this.

Us Shelby Autos people are here because we were put here, against our will. We have different ideas and opinions than you people here at SU and this is a huge deal for us. You guys give us some time and we will give you some time. This is a big adjustment for us. If you had been uprooted and placed on our site you would feel the same way. I'm sure with time we will all get used to one another and things will be fine.

No, the civil thing to have done would have been to PM the person that offended you with their comments so it could have been addressed behind closed doors & maybe, just maybe they would have seen the error of their comments, then agreed it was out of line or even said they were sorry that you found it offensive & it would be taken care of very quickly as to not have more folks take it the wrong way, but instead you’re the ones who would rather post comments that criticize, degrade & belittle that person and then call yourselves the SGT mafia.

and just for the record I use the button "view new post" & when ever a topic grabs my attention I go to it, so get off this is for Shelby GT owners section & quit telling folks their not allowed to come in here

Yoda, you asked if we wanted the post edited to show sympathy for the person and the vehicle. I would suggest no. A man is judged by the company he keeps and the statements he makes. If you choose not to apologize then that is how you will be viewed by many.

It is a Shelby GT site. For discussion primarily of Shelby GT issues. No need for forum police. We strive for voluntary compliance. Maturity, civility, experience, knowledge, are big plusses in discussions.

Again, I wish the best for the driver and vehicle. Right now he needs support, not ridicule.

Ok. Enough!

We have strayed far from the intent of this thread and ONCE AGAIN turned it into a SA vs. SU debate all because one or two people say something without thinking.

It's sad that it happened and I'm thankful the driver is ok.

Let's get back to the topic and leave the rest of this SA vs. SU silliness to PMs.

so what you are saying is you want my 1st post edited to reflect concern for the person & show sympathy and empathy is that it?

I really don't have a dog in this fight, since I have posted on both sites and I have received great input, knowledge and friendship from both.

I think the short answer to your question is yes.

It's a real streatch to read anything into your post except that it was an attempt at a quick grin. With that said, most of us can feel the pain of the guy who wrecked his car and can only imagin how we would feel had that been our car.

It's been my experience in 58 years, that in difficult times, it is much more beneficial to build people up, not tear them down or make fun of them and their circumstances, even when it is with an innocent comment for a quick laugh.

We all make mistakes, it's how we deal with our error that defines our character.
