This is my 1968 j code 302 4v fastback. It is all original except a few goodies added

for a little more HP! Finally got it painted! Now I am restoring the original wheels and

upgrading the brakes and finishing a few touch ups here and there. I will post pics of

the finished product as soon as it is done. Almost there!

What size tires do you have on the '67

225 60 15's up front on 15x7 wheels and 275 50 15's in the rear on 15x8 wheels. I see with your signature you have a 67 resto mod in process - mine is highly modified, just looks stock except for the wheels/tires and single outlet exhausts vs. 2 duals. Drivetrain is a pretty serious 331 stroker (for a cruiser) with Canfield heads, 10.5:1, putting down 345 rwhp even before I upgraded the carb to a Demon. Has a very lumpy idle and sounds imtimidating.

Here's mine:

I finished the restoration on it about 8 or 9 years ago. It was a 302 code car, needed EVERYTHING when I got it. I paid $6 thru a abandoned car auction for it, and found more than that in change inside it, so it was free, and I still may have overpaid lol... Only original sheetmetal is the roof and the doors! It got new floors, new torque boxes (HUGE pain in the ass), new wheel houses in the rear, New gas tank, all other sheetmetal is new, new trim all around, new interior except for the rear seat..... I put a 351W in it, upgraded the stock 8" rear with a 3.80 posi center section, eventually pulled the C4 trans in favor of a T5, thinking about disk brake upgrades and new front suspension once my Jeep is done.

Nice job, you have lots of sweat in that resto for sure and great experience. Buddy of mine is re-doing a 68 convertible, probably 75% done, started out as a rust bucket, he is very patient. I would like to go with a replacement front end and steering, the 63 Falcon underneath is not so great in the handling department and the power steering is prone to leaking as everyone who has it knows.

Mine is manual steering, manual brakes... I think the workout you get driving them is why they were really called muscle cars!

I don't think I'll change either aspect, I mostly just want all new components to tighten everything up, it will never compare to the modern cars, so I'm not going to throw too much money at it, but if anything it will get the power brakes.

Mine will be similar to your, Stock look of a GTA, but with better transmision and engine. My engine is ready to go, its a 302 Roller, built by a friend who builds and works for Bill Miller Enterprice (BME-NHRA Top Fuel).

Sounds good, it is very similar to what I have, or mine will be similar to yours, pretty funny.

I think mine looks pretty docile sitting there with the engine off. A trained eye will notice the tires/wheels but that is it. Once you fire it up though and no one thinks it's docile anymore. Engine was built and tuned on their own dyno by Maryland Performance Center.

I went with a LenTech AOD with a Baumannator electronic control - I don't recall the 1st gear ratio but it is really short. Also, 4.10s out back so lots of gear off the line/out of the hole but a great drop into 4th (I think final is like 3.27 in 4th) so acceptable highway rpms. Best of both worlds really.

Here is my first home rebuild of a 302 going in my 65 Tribute. I just put 1,000 miles on the rebuild. The gauges are from Equus, and I finally got to use my Shelby dash pod. I am now enjoying it, and I enjoy it every day for its my driver. I have one more picture, but was a bit to much for this post, so I will add a post.

Here is something I added as a personal touch, reminding me of why I am driving a tribute. I thought it was kind of a neat Idea to incorperate the Shelby Poker chip into my sterring wheel center. And yes, my horn is still functional.
