Excuse me, but how could you have overlooked the obvious and proper title for this forum?

May I recommend that you change the title from "Mustang BEATS to Mustang EATS a Harley Davidson" :hysterical2:

Sorry, I just see one more instance of a dumb ass sqaking on a cell phone and runs into a poor motorcyclist. Gives all Mustang owners a bad rap. I hope the obvioulsy neglegent V6 owner spends at least a few months in the slammer for his willful injury to the rider.....

This sort of thing should not be tolerated.

Yeah, my worst nightmare is when I stop with my bike at a red light or Stop sign and I can see cars speeding towards me........I normaly release and apply my brakes multiple times so that they can see my flashing lights.........25 years ago on a 920 Yamaha Virago I was pushed into an itersection by a 80 year old lady who didn't see my bike!!!! Thank God I missed the passing traffic. Car drivers are not as carefull as they should with bikers! :redcard::redcard::redcard:

Sqauking on a cell phone was the first thing that came to my mind. There is no excuse for this type of incident.

Nah this is what you call a beating, in other words a hard hit.

Please explain?

Is the bike stuck into the bumper?

Almost looks like the bike is on the other side of the car.

SCGT500, put your eye glasses on will ya :hysterical:

I'm sure you probably figured it out by now, it is a rear end accident between the car & bike :hysterical2:

Perhaps its no accident at all. Maybe it is a breeding experiment between two American classics. Just imagine what the kids would look like :hysterical:

The cop could be there to issue a citation for public indecency as they couldn't get a room, or would it be a bay at a cheap garage??

Sorry, I just see one more instance of a dumb ass sqaking on a cell phone and runs into a poor motorcyclist.

This kind of accident has been happening since way before cell phones, although I'm sure they make the situation worse.

It's actually caused by the driver expecting to see a "car" (because they are looking for a car) and failing to see one. It's also how pedestrians get hit. The driver literally does not see the motorcycle or pedestrian because their brain is tuned in to look for a car, doesn't see it, and then they start looking for oncoming cars (and may fail to see an oncoming motorcycle, bike, or pedestrian).

Also, our eyes are tuned to motion. The motorcycle is stock still in the field of view and may not register. The comment about flashing the brake lights is excellent, because it will attract attention.

Not making any kind of excuse for the driver, mind you. It's just that cell phones aren't the cause of every case of distraction.

I did a fair amount of research on this whole visibility thing, as I used to ride bicycles thousands of miles a year for many years. I've been hit by drivers that I had eye contact with, had a bike run over by a school bus after I jumped off, and generally been amazed at how invisible you can be if you aren't a car. Oh, and not counting the school bus, I've been hit seven times over thirty or so years. Plus one time I got nailed in a crosswalk as a pedestrian (the guy didn't see me, even though I was crossing with a walk signal and was wearing a bright red sweater!). The school bus was when I just hung up the bike.

I can see that, but with how the pic looks???

It looks like the tire is past the bumper, bumper brace, radiator, etc.

Doesn't seem possible, with the bike in the position it is in.

Perhaps just the way the photo is taken.

I know what you are saying, just giving you the blues.

Seeing the State Trooper was a helpful hint for me when I 1st saw the picture. And look at how the car is slightly elevated in the front, defenitely a freak accident.
