tlea7
Has anyone used other than Ford stripes on a vert? I see Shelby carries them as well as several others. They all seem to be made from 3M tape. I'm not sure the color would match the side stripes (tungsten)
TexasShelby
I had the dealership paint mine on before delivery and they match great (vista blue). I'm sure some other places have striping, but don't know if it will match the OEM. Good Luck :happy feet:
tlea7
I thought about having them painted but I was thinking if decals they could be removed later. Probably overthinking it.
TexasShelby
On the contrary.... that's a very valid point. a good question would be to 3M or Ford, can the stripes be removed with no damage to the paint? I didn't think mine through way back when...it's was $300 less for the painted ones than the vinyl. They were $1100 for the vinyl last year when I got my Shelby. I'd be interested to know what you find out.

Yes the stripes can be removed with no adverse effects to the paint if done properly. You have to use a heat gun with a sweeping back and forth motion while pulling up on the stripe. If the heat gun is concentrated on 1 spot you can burn the paint. Also to remove any residual glue on the car from the stripe use isopropyl alcohol and you are done.I hope this answers your question. tlea7
I'm pretty sure they are around $1300 now. The CS ones are $800 and theres another company out there making them for $400. They all seem to be made of the same material. Here's the CS one, http://www.shelbyperformanceparts.com/Show...ripe%20Kit.aspx Here's another, http://www.bmcextremecustoms.com/graphics_ford_mustang.html
mrfarmdog
I don't thing the CS stripes will match the Ford side stripes in color or metallic composition. It may not be that obvious with the location of the stripes but be aware that the stripes are not cut the same as the Ford stripes so someone that knows the car will be able to tell. The CS stripes are narrower by about 1-1.25 inches. The areas where this is really evident is where the windshield washer nozzles are (CS stripes fit inside the nozzles while Ford stripes are under the nozzles) and around the rear faux gas cap (SC stripes fit around it while Ford is underneath). Ultimately it is your decision.... I opted to go with Ford stripes because I feel they are better quality material and make my vert look like a stock GT500. I have also removed sections of my stripes to replace without a heat gun with no problems. I am sure the heatgun would make it easier though. Good luck with whatever option you choose! SLB8SNK
You will get a lot of opinions on this one, but here is mine. I would opt for the Ford genuine stripes if any. They will match OEM specs as well should you ever want to go back stock (for resale of originality) all you do is peel and clean!
