I got the call!

I just got word today my 08 Torch Red shelby coupe with white stripes has arrived! It's only about a week late due to a stripe problem. Thanks again for helping me track that down Cold Water Hot Rod! Anyway, the wait does end well, but man has it been tough. The only problem now is a Alberta Clipper recently came through Ohio and they are calling for rain most of early next week, so pick up will be late next week at best. I am going to the dealership early tomorrow to check it out though and take some pics. This forum has been a great source of info and ideas during the wait. If you are still waiting, hang in there, the call will come!

Sorry. Couldn't figure out how to shrink pics so I could put them on one reply. Anyway, car looks ok as far as I can tell. It was evidently filthy when it arrived and the first wash didn't get it all that clean. The interior is muddy! Looked like snowey/muddy gloves & boots were used by the driver as there is all sorts of evaporated crap on the shifter, console, steering wheel and especially the floor. We will see how it looks after clean up Monday. I took the front plate bracket so nobody gets tempted to put it on. On the upside, they have it in the paint booth to keep it out of site and away from opening car doors, etc... More pics once it's home and clean!

Thanks everyone. Sorry for delaying my response, but I have been preoccupied with the weather channel reports. It was delivered in the worst possible weather and was dirty the one and only time I have seen it (pics posted). I am going back to see it cleaned up tomorrow (I hope). They are calling for rain or snow through Thursday at least. Maybe I can pick it up Friday or Saturday if not too much salt and water on the roads. I am a little more at ease knowing where it is at least.

The sun came out and the roads dried off today, so I went down and picked her up! Between driving it home and taking a few people rides, I think I put about 40 miles on it and it feels strong. I didn't go over 2/3 throttle and tried not to exceed 4000 rpm's, but I think I might have a couple of times. Very impressed so far. Also, no leaks!!! One observation is I evidently have a habit of pulling back on the shifter while the car is in second gear. I kept hearing this noise like a spinning syncro (2nd gear only)and noticed it stopped if I let go of, or released the pressure, on the shifter, so I must be "over-engaging" it a bit. There is one problem. My car was held for a few days to take care of a stripe issue. When checking out the car at the dealership, I noticed both front stripes that go from the grill over bumper have a seam!!! And not a very clean one. After they wrap over the front of the bumper, it looks like both were cut off and a new piece on both stripes were added to go the rest of the way down the bumper to the lower grill. There is a 1/4" over-lap where they meet. This is not normal, is it? Please advise. Thanks

Don t worry it is normal. In the front and in the rear, too. Congrats and enjoy. By the way nice colour......:)

I cannot believe that a stipe that is only a foot or 18" long was designed to be two separate pieces that meet and overlap in the middle! Really? Yours is like this too? I just about cannot belive this. Why are none of the other stripes pieced together like this? Regarding my riders, they were my wife and my two boys (one rider at a time). My wife was pretty impressed, but probably only because I was. My son's (age 23 and 17) couldn't get the smiles off their faces the entire time. They are already proper gear heads. The oldest has a pristine 87 cougar XR7 with modified GT mustang 5.0 and 5 speed and Cobra R rims. The younger has a very sweet 86 Thunderbird turbo coupe with multiple mods and later model Cobra R rims. We have great times at car shows. For years I had a beautiful 69 428 SCJ mach. I sold it at Auburn in September and used the proceeds to buy the shelby. It's a family of Ford lovers! Very cool....

1FAFP90: After the above post, I went out and looked closely. You are right, there is a seam on the rear too just under a body line that is almost inperceptable except I could feel it with my fingers. The front one is much more noticeable and ill-fitting. This is normal, eh?

Yep, the stripe overlap is normal. And it was the source of much angst and discussion on this board from the very first '07 deliveries... It is what it is. Look at it this way, more engineering effort went into the motor and drivetrain!

Enjoy your car! The Red/White is truly a great, standout color! I enjoyed mine for 73 days & 5495 miles before handing her over to friend for safe keeping while overseas in Korea!

Have fun & drive a mile for Me!

I was wondering why you drove so much and put it away (saw this on another thread). Now I understand! I have come to terms with the stripe. The only remaining issue is an imperfection on the lip on one wheel. It has been scraped by something. Debating if I want to try to get the dealer to get me another one. How long until you get back to the states?
