NO Repeat, just more Mod Structure SGT

Recommended Posts

Ok, need help, cause it does get confusing. Don't want to do a MOD that doesn't require something else along with it that is not mentioned. Adding a, don't know if want to go that far. SC. I just don't want to build the top end more than the bottom end. Just want it to progress up. Tuner first, then what heads?/??????? what gain, then what pulleys what gain??????? A simple man's progression for getting up to an extra 50 HP to 75 horsepower. I know this has been discussed, but it gets so in depth, and I would like to keep it simple. I love my 08 SGT, and don't want to blow it out, put I do want some more HP "WITH IN REASON!!!!!" if there is such a thing. Looking at going to either bamachips this week because I am within an hours drive, or ordering the Bren

MOD 1 (best bang for buck) Brens or similiar tuner

MOD 2 ???????????????????????????

MOD 3 ????????????????????????

I am only summarizing what I have heard good things about but haven't been able to do myself because I have already done the supercharger or lack of funding. Please take them with a grain of salt. However, those that have done these mods are happy with them:

1. Steeda or other brand intake elbow

2. Long tube headers if they are legal in your neck of the woods. Marginal improvement with shorty headers.

3. better the mechanical advantage by going to a 4.10 or 3.90 rear. However, if a supercharger is in your future you may be changing it back.

4. Lastly find the very long thread by Rufdraft about his car. He built his Mustang GT up pretty good before he added the supercharger. It's a good read just bring a snack. :hysterical:

You sound like me!

You know you want more but not quite sure how to get there, what do do, in what order, etc., etc.

I plan on doing some things when the warranty runs out but not until then. Too much $$$$ in this car right now only to have someone point to some mod as an excuse to deny a claim.

Now having said that, I think I'm going to seek out a good local Mustang performance shop or SVT dealer to take the lead on it. YES it's more $$$$ but I'm the kind of guy that has nuts and bolts left over putting together Christmas toys. You might be more 'mechanical' than I but these cars are so complex these days and one things effects another and another with no two people seeming to agree on anything when you "ask the experts".

For example people have posted here that the Steeda elbow was a good addition while another said it was a waste and was going back the standard GT one. So who knows.

I'd just as well have a team that knows what they are doing, such as a SAI authorized Mod Shop, and let them work out the right balance between different mods. Of course that means I need an SAI mod shop in the Chicago area! knock..knock!!!!

Just my 2 cents.

I agree, wish Shelby was the one to offer the upgrades. I just can't see overbuilding the top end, and put pressure on the bottom. What do we get with pulleys, what is the number one choice on headers?, what can we do to get the most HP. My definition of more horse power that is evenly spaced on both top and bottom has no limit on the low end. i.e., 10 more HP for this, 5 more HP for this, and so on and so. I have chosen to have mine as a daily driver, and I love it. Just want that little more bump of HP. Do you think we could get any help from John??????????

I would like to see mods offered by Shelby / Ford as "packages". For example, a 10 hp package, 25, 50 and so on. At the same time, state the 0-60 and 1/4 mile improvements. Shelby and Ford Racing have the equipment and facilities to do this.

Not sure this is even worth 2cents but....

I'm not about to engineer anything on my SGT. I want more HP (testosterone :superhero: issues) but mostly I want a car that is even more unique. I've decided to return it to SAI's mod shop and add the SC package. They have the engineering, the products, the know how and the history of doing it right. It also keeps it 100% Shelby (if that matters to you - it's very important to me). I've called and gotten prices for the for the SC (Whipple) upgrade, big brakes, wheels and break duct kit but haven't really had a "consulting" session. When I get the call from SAI to schedule, I will have that conversation to make the final decisions.

BTW: it will be 415hp :dreamy:

Good Luck!!!
