Brenspeed Tune?

Recommended Posts

Think it took about 7-10 days for me. I called to ask about it and they said they only ship tuners on certian days. Don't remember for sure what day though. I would just call or e-mail them and they can tell you the status.

how do you like your tune? what happens to the shelby tune, are you able to store it and go back to it? Do you feel a difference with the elbow and tuner?

I really like the tune, very aggresive, yes the sct will store your orginal tune and you can go back anytime and I use the elbow that came with the shelby, waiting on the mod shop and will retune to shelby specs when the time comes

tunes make the car much more driveable IMO. throttle response is much better than stock tune and car just "feels" better. i did put the elbow on the car before i got the tunes and it did make a little difference, but not much. it was most noticable around 2500-3000 rpm and up.

i want to get one, but dont know anything about these tuners. Do I plug it in and it tells me what to do, or is there more to it then that?

Plug it into your OBD II connector,Follow instructions,Lay some rubber!Whole thing takes 5 minutes,10 tops!

What is the basic gain on horsepower? What is the cost of the tuner, and from above it sounds like you should return it to stock to make sure there would no questions.

With the Benspeed SHELBY GT specific tune you gain about 5 HP on the topend,Sounds underwhelming right! There basic tune gives quite a boost under 2300 RPMs and a little up top.Remember this tune from them is mainly to eliminate the dead pedal feel at low rpms and torque management issues.IT GREATLY IMPROVES DRIVABILITY!But I'm sure they could write you a different tune based on your needs+they are great to work with!No complaints from me and I am pretty picky!

Attached is a dyno-sheet that shows the difference between the run with my SGT #507 when it was bone stock, vs. with the Brenspeed dyno installed.

As has been earlier posted...not a huge diffence in overall HP, but if you look at the lines you will see how much improved the torque and HP curves are starting at about 1750 rpms to 2250 rpms and then about at about 4200 rpms. Also, I don't think the Brenspeed tune actually lowered my torque or HP rating in some of the rpm ranges like you might think from the graph, as the stock dyno run was done on a cool morning, whereas the brenspeed run was done on a hot afternoon.

Overally, I am very, very impressed with the drivability, and the seat of the pants diffence with the Brenspeed tune. Cost $381.00 with tax, takes less than 5 minutes to install and less than 5 minutes to switch between tunes (including the stock tune).

Just curious if you have before and after dyno numbers.

I held off on ordering mine as well. Its almost winter heer so I figured Id wait until spring now. I am still not ruling out a Tasca trip to get the S/C and brakes installed in the spring so I might as well wait.

I haven't ordered mine yet figured since we wern't getting a bulk price break on just the tuner & tunes that I would what till the new year with Christmas coming up.

well atleast im not the only one who held off !!! the way i look at it is that if im gonna pay reg. price i can do that at any time and by the time i get around to getting it hopefully the market pricing has dropped !!! ( shouldnt be lond for the base price of the sct2 to go down now that the sct3 tuner is out) !!!!!!!!! :D

OK, I checked with BamaChips and they said

"Really the difference will be more shown In the throttle response and driveability of the car over the amounts of horsepower gains. I've done this before and barely made 5 more hp over the already tuned programs from FRPP.

Still the car drove considerably better and had a lot more throtte response.

Just let me know if you are still interested."

Sounds like Shelby got all it could with the tune except for the above. Is the driveability more fun?

The FRPP is tuned for 91 octane, so you would think you could get 5 more hp by just tuning it to 93 octane alone.

I was thinking about this earlier. Remember when the GT-H and original SGT releases had the hp at 325? Maybe that was with a 93 octane tune.

Just thinking out loud.

93 Octane and tune = 325hp (Isn't this what the release on the Bullitt said it had with 93 octane and dynamic tune?)

91 Octane and tune = 319/320hp (SGT's rating)

89 Octane and tune = 315

87 Octane and tune = 310 (Again isn't this what the Bullitt has with the 87 octane tune?)

If I read this correctly, it was good for a 6 hp gain? Is that still using 91 octane fuel?

The dyno sheet that I posted was running the 93 octane tune from Brenspeed. Something tells me that if I went and had the car dynoed today (when it is 45 degrees rather than 85 degrees) I would see better numbers. Like some with the tune have said...the seat of the pants feel is real due to the HP gains in the 1500--2500 range, and also in the higher ranges. I'm very pleased with the tune.

I notice a big improvement on lower RPM performance after I did the install, though at the time I really wasn't sure if I needed to do anything extra to tell the programmer to save the existing settings. Today I needed to take the car in to the dealer to fix a rattle so last night I used the programmer to go back to the stock tune. When I started driving the car today it still seemed to be very peppy. Fearing my return to stock didn't take, I ran the program again. Now it seems to be back to original. Does the return to stock always take? Is it immediate or do you have to drive a little to return to original performance?
