Oh8SnakeDriver
Hi all, I took delievery of my GT500 after almost 5 months of waiting!! :happy feet: :happy feet: I picked her up from the dealer on 11/03 at 11:00AM. I then had the pleasure of driving 300 miles home!! Man what a blast, once the factory detune wore off, she really came alive! I've been so busy having fun driving that I had not posted to the forum that my GT500 had arrived. That and the fact that I didn't know how to post pictures. So now that I have figured that out, I thought that it was time to make my announcement. I've attached my pictures. I am the one on the left (wearing the Mustang shirt) and my sales man Ryan is on the right. This dealership was the unbelievable, they kept me informed at each stage of entire process, thereby keeping my PSDS to a minimum. The video was shot by my son. It is of my wife and I as we drove the car for the first time and no I didn't stall driving away!!! Man this car is amazing. Now what mod's to do first??? ingram4868
Congratulations on a great car. I wish I had gotten the red accent interior. Maybe someday I'll take it to an auto upholstery shop and get'er done. Once I mastered the NAV, I just love it.
Joker45
Congrates. You really need to add more driving impressions for those of us who are still waiting! Looks great and I'm sure you have a blast.
Oh8SnakeDriver
Thanks for the congrat's. I'm glad I ordered the red insert interior, my wife didn't think it would look good, but now agrees with me. I too like the NAV System, although I still don't have everything about it figured out. One thing I don't like is the fact that some features are locked out unless your stopped. I'm guessing Ford did this for safety reasons. It keeps the driver from screwing around with the NAV when they should be paying attention to their driving. It also keeps the passenger from programing destinations unless stopped. Other than this it's great. As far as driving impressions, once you get used to the hydrolic clutch (I admit I've stalled it a couple times) driving is a total blast. Everyone seems to love the car. I can't count the number of times I've had to leave my office to show off the car. Everyone wants to set in it and check out the engine. Even the Chevy guys are impressed with the motor! !!! The only negative coments I've recieved is that the factory exhaust sound it too tame for the car. My daughter was the first to mention this, she said that my 01 Cobra with stock exhaust sounded much meaner!!! Guess that means a new exhaust will be on my list of Mod's!!! So far 600+ miles and no problems also no rear wheel hop! Althought I've only run her up to redline a few times. Been trying to keep my shift points to around 4500RPM at the max. The more I drive this car the more I love it. Trust me it was well worth the wait! One other thing when driving my 01 Cobra I would be challanged by other drivers, but in the GT500 no one seems to be willing to play!! For those of you that have your GT500 you know what I'm saying for those of you still waiting, it will be worth it!! Mike

Oh8SnakeDriver
Thanks for the warm congrats guys. It means a lot. I've wanted a Shelby since I was 17. I saw a ad for one in a Playboy magazine back in 67 and have wanted/needed one (the car not the foldout well maybe the foldout too!) ever since. Now I have the car and I couldn't be happier. ColdwaterHotrod why not drive it below 50 dgrs? Is it the tires? Clue me in! Alloy Dave Gee thanks here I thought I was done with acronyms It took me forever to figure out what NVH and PSDS was, now you tell me theirs more!!! Great Thanks, Mike

For those of you that have your GT500 you know what I'm saying for those of you still waiting, it will be worth it!! Mike Congrats Mike. Reading your comments I'd swear that I wrote them! I had always wanted (and luckily got) the red insert interior but my wife said she didn't like it. Now... she thinks it's the ONLY way dark colored cars like ours should come. NAV - yeah, I know what you mean about the lock out feature. I hate that the passenger can't make changes or inputs when driving, but considering the complexity, I'm sure its better. Heck, I see enough people driving horribly just using a cell phone (or a woman who almost side swiped me this morning who was putting on her makeup! ). Exhaust is too quite for me too. It will be a definate mod for me. Enjoy the ride!
Shelby101
Congratulations, nice to see we have another one in the area. Great pictures. Better drive it a lot soon, because this Chicago cold really gives you wheel hop. These tires do not like cold, though there is a local who uses his for a daily drive all year long. mikehart99
Way to go with the car. I love the combo and great shots of day 1. My son was not sure about the red inserts and now everyone thinks it's the only way for the retro look, besides I like contrasts. The clutch was a trick to get and I am still getting used to it. It really doesn't like to lug even a little in second before getting some rattling deiseling sound , I just use first for weaving around the neighborhood. Definitly needs better sounding exhaust, too bad for what I paid to have to monkey with it, my wife's GT hardly sounds any different. Enjoy the car and take the odd sunny day off or at least a long lunch to drive. Mikehart PS how do you get the pics from photobucket to the posting? If you want to post lots of big photos and not exceed the site limit and help keep the CPU usage down and conserve the site Bytes, then follow these few simple instructions to get going on Photo bucket so you can post as many photos as your heart desires. 1st. Go to this link and set up a account. It is quick and easy. http://photobucket.com/ 2nd. Go to the area called "Albums and Upload". 3rd. Click on the "browse" button and find the photo on your computer that you want to download and then click on that photo and then click "Upload". 4th. The photo will then "Upload" and pop into the bottom of the page. Scroll down there and click a check mark in the box telling it that you have chosen it. 5th. Then click the button at the bottom of the page that says " Generate HTML and IMG Code". 6th. Then you will see the photo codes in 2 areas that you can use. one is "IMG Thumbnails for message boards" and the other one is "IMG images for message boards". Highlight one of the codes in those boxs and use your mouse to do the copy function. You can do one at a time or as many as you want. 7th. Go to your stangsunleashed post and paste the IMG code into the big white box that you would normally type a post into. That's it. After you do it once or twice, you will have it down quick. Note that the Thumbnail selection is going to give you a smaller photo and the Image selection will give you a big photo in your post. If you need any help, let me know and I will give you a hand. This will really help our site run quicker and faster if you are a photo poster lover like me.
