robertlane
Dear Robert, Does joining Team Shelby take the place of the s-197 club?? I joined the S-197 club in April. ShelbySteve Yes, if you are a S197 Shelby member you are automatic a Team Shelby member. We will have more details coming later. But the S197 do not need to pay for a new membership and your member numbers will stay the same. Every S197 Shelby member will get new member cards and new decals in around 6-8 weeks. That will be done next week.

Grabber
Question for Robert or Sharon. Some members here are also been members on the Shelby autos forum for along time and have post counts on both sites. Will the posts be combined from each account for a new total for those members ? Hello Moderators ! OK...So far I am with you. Since I am already a member of S197, I will automatically become a Team Shelby Member. My question is, will my membership start date of the S197 membership be my Team Shelby expiration date ? And when can I upgrade ? Thanks, ItalianStallion

Grabber
maybe we should hide posts counts? Why ? My kids school wants to make all the kids wear uniforms. Alloy Dave
Why ? My kids school wants to make all the kids wear uniforms. I use this as an example because it has plusses and negitives. I am against it. I agree. Although the exact number doesn't matter much to me, I like to know when someone is new.....as I can adjust my demeanor if they ask a question that's been asked before, or I can ignore them if they make a stupid post (which sometimes occurs) and then disappear...never to be seen again. In addition, when I was a new member, I always liked knowing who had been around awhile...helped my confidence about the responses they were giving. Before I get flamed...let me clearly state that just because someone has a high post count doesn't mean that everything they say is accurate or that they are necessarily more knowledgeable than someone new...but it's one indication of dedication to the site IMO. In summary...I'd be ok with the 1 snake to 4 snake thing, but I'd like to have some indication of "experience". AD

AD Well, if I could just throw my .02 in: I see many posters here and elsewhere that post constantly with nothing at all to say or add. Not an issue to me, but, I do not use the number of posts as any indication other than the poster might just want to see their comments in print. Anyway, the snake thing is fine too. Or, leave the post count and add the post count from all the other sites everyone posts to. Maybe we can better gauge the amount of online time. And finally, here is my first post after becoming a team member. I hope everything shows properly.

oldimp
maybe we should hide posts counts? I like this idea! It would prevent a lot of useless posting I think. I'd keep the status there, junior, senior member, etc. The number only matters to a few. IMO
ColdwaterHotrod
I see pro's & con's to this post count hiding. Not really in favor of hiding it, but I would like to make a suggestion or two..... IF the post count is to be hidden, let it be only be shown on the top 20 members page section were all members outside the top 20 can be looked up for a post count if someone really wants that info. If this is done, the post count info still remains & is in 1 area & not with every post. As far as useless posting, that will always take place & can not be stopped with or with out a post counter. I think this would allow us to not have our post counts numbers under our Avatars and maybe we could have a few selected (Shelby knowledgeable) members or a group of members chosen by SAI & the Moderators to be un-official or official spokespersons after going thru a series of test, questions & interviews? Either way, hidden or not, change is always difficult but should be only done to improve something that is NOT working or meeting the expectations in its current configuration. I would rather keep things simple instead of making things harder on those who already have there plates full during this transition.

I would rather keep things simple instead of making things harder on those who already have there plates full during this transition. I agree with part of this, but not about singling out a select group of people. Not in counts, experience or otherwise as who will determine the validity of a "spokesperson"? To many topics, and to regimented if we start labeling good versus trivial postings! Anyways, I like the post counts and see no issue. Basically those with higher counts are gonna want to keep them, those will lower will want them removed. The numbers, although not indicative of experience or great information, surely is of time spent chatting with other members. Bottom line, if the counts do need to go away, I think something as simple as class or ranking would be just as good. Bronze, silver, gold, platinum? Or Red, white, blue? Each indicating a tier of postings. In the end, it does not really matter, and I see no harm no foul with keeping the well deserved post numbers as is. kaylan1521
I suggested this a while back. It was tried and all hell broke loose. DubbsFaris
As a new member, It may be helpful to know who has the knowledge we seek out from the forum, and seperate that from misinformation that can rear its ugly head from time to time. So I am in favor of some count system, but I would gain alot of counts if you combined the shelby forums with this one, which could be misleading... We on the other forums know the main group that works them all...yes Grabber, how could we mistake you! I have mainly just read others comments, until I got my baby on order... So here are a couple questions, whats a job 2 versus job 1, who is DORA? and if I ordered my verte 3 weeks ago, and dont know this info yet or have a VIN, should I be worried? please feel free to answer any of this in a new section if it helps keep organized.. Thanks Dubbs
