2009 Mustang?

I found some of these photos online, but I actually have the R&T issue shown. Does anyone have the skinny on whether the '09 model will be the R&T displayed model, the Giuigaro design, or the third one I have shown here (Brenda Priddy), which seems to be a more refined version of the model shown in the November '06 R&T issue?

Well, I guess we won't all agree on design (other than the S197), but, I don't think the Giuigaro design is completely without merit. As a future design, I think it's quite possible. As I recall, Giuigaro is a designer for the famed European design company "Italdesign"... same company that has come up with Lamborghini and other supercar exotic designs. As a European "take" on an American design, it's not half bad. Personally, I would never want to see "gull-wing" doors on a Mustang, but, that's what Giuigaro chose to do.

From what I remember of the cover story, Road & Track got those pictures from an insider at Ford. I wonder why "Motor Trend" didn't get the story? Hmmmm. ;) The pictures look legit to me, so I'm thinking Ford did a Machup on the S197 with these new body panels, as a possible "face lift" for the S197.

I agree on the wheels 100%! If those wind up being a factory option (though, not likely) I'll be ordering them!

Of the 3 designs, my vote is on the one in the "Brenda Priddy" photo. If it's real, it's a more refined version of the S197 we have today, without going as far overboard as the design on the Road & Track cover, or the Giuigaro design. And here's to hoping the next design (whatever it is) has a base of 400 HP NA!! :burnout:

The major change in 09' is the interior. Exterior looks very similar to the current body style, just that the sharp edges are a bit more rounded off. The picture of the Black Cherry hardtop is very close to what the production units will look like in 2009.

Working too much my friend, working way too much. See explanation posted in 2008 Bullitt topic. Regarding your PM, I can only report what the Mustang that I saw looks like, and yes I am aware of the crash testing being done on the transparant roof cars too.

I also saw and sat in the final production verison of the Dodge Challanger too. Dodge brought everything over from the concept car, except that they had to install "B" pillars to make the D.O.T. happy. Production on those cars start in January up in Canada. 425 H.P. SRT Hemi, the first year's production of 5,500 units will only come in Orange and only come with Automatic Transmissions. No convertibles until 2010 if they come out at all. The car in stock form will be no threat to any Shelby on the road.

Thanks, I'm glad to be back.

A Hurricane V8, you say? Hmmmm :dreamy:

Son Of GT, how do you know that will be the final design? And what kinds of changes is the interior getting?

Thanks,

- Josh

Josh,

I can only tell you that the Black Cherry Red stang that is pictured is the closest depection of the new body style, and I can't really tell you specifically how I am privy to that information. I'm not trying to be coy or evasive, I just have to be sensitive to my connections that allow me to see things outside of the general public. However, having said that I also must declare that the information that I share with all here is about 95% accurate because things do change from point "A" to point "B" I may not be aware of those changes until after they occur.

With regards to the interior changes, the door panels and grab handles are different; more "high end" and rounded looking if you will. The gage layout on the GT's are in line with the Shelby's (tach and speedo placement), the gages have new fonts, the center console is slightly narrower, and all of the button and knobs have been changed, but it would be difficult to describe how they look. The embossed pattern that we all have on our glove boxes and similar hard plastic panels will be different too.

Wow, that must be very cool to have that kind of information at your fingertips! It sounds like the interior changes will be stereotypical "face lift" changes. Different, but resembling what came before it.

So is the "Hurricane V8" or some new V8 supposed to replace the standard 4.6 in the GT? Is it one of the engines we've seen in the "latest news" here at Stangs unleashed in the last year or so? Do you have any info on the specs? Aluminum/iron block/head? What liter, HP? DOHC? 3V/4V?

Thanks,

hmm i also heard KITT is gonna be a mustang in the new series could we be looking at a new se mustang?

A lot of people are speculating that not only will we see a face-lift for the 2009 Mustang, but, we'll see a "Boss" as well. I think that's probably more plausible than a Shelby GT350, but, who knows what SAI has in store for 2009+. I'm betting that there will be a Boss, and if I'm right, I'm hoping we see a NATURALLY ASPIRATED, light weight, 450 HP engine under it's hood!! :yahoo:
