robertlane
Team Shelby We are happy to announce that the S197ShelbyOA and Shelby Automobiles have formed a partnership. This new partnerships has spawned the creation of "Team Shelby," which is the official club of Shelby Automobiles. Why the change? Carroll Shelby and Amy Boylan approached us with the idea of turning the S197ShelbyOA into a nationwide group with major activities and perks. And they wanted the group to provide feedback for potential new programs and more. Thus, the S197ShelbyOA developed into Team Shelby. We will provide more information on how this change benefits everyone, however, here's some upcoming events that we are planning to get you excited: * A Shelby GT500KR 40th Anniversary Reunion. * Save the date: 11 January 2008 for a chance to attend Carroll Shelby's birthday party. We'll have more details about the club in a press release soon.

ShelbyPilot
I'll be the first to say I have concerns. I hope they will be answered with press release. First, The S197OA that I am a member of and this forum are very GT500 leaning. I have yet to receive or even see the Shelby GT shirt that was promised with membership. For whatever reasons the forum hasn't been able to track the Shelby GT owners. There is a very lively Shelby GT Forum at shelbyautos.com. Second, if this is the "official" club of Shelby Automobiles. What about SAAC? Is the "official" club for all Shelby cars or just the S197? If it is just for the S197 then who is making a huge distinction between vintage Shelbys and modern Shelbys? Lastly, a "A Shelby GT500KR 40th Anniversary Reunion?" I assume that is for 1968 Shelby GT500KRs? If it is that does more to raise my concerns about the S197OA and SAAC. These are just my quesations but I think they are atleast valid.
ilmor
Soooo...why do we need this again? I much prefer the SGT Forum at forum.shelbyautos.com. I agree w/ ShelbyPilots comments, except I never joined this forum / club because I could see that it was more of a GT500 forum / club.
SLB8SNK
I love the idea! The only reason I have not joined S197 was they were giving away 2007 GT500 shirt so I was waiting for the 2008 GT500 or something generic, as I do not have a 2007. Hoping this makes a change there, so I can join today!!!!!

MattInDetroit
Humm...while I am happy to hear of your success I too question the value and focus. As a SGT owner I tried to make some suggestions months ago, for example the t-Shirt, but nothing came of it and as others have said this really seemed more like a GT500 club NOT an S197 club. EVen the announcement makes you pause with talk of a GT500KR Reunion. What does that have to do with S197 cars other than the fact the KR is back. I don't know. For this to take off it needs to have a sharp focus and have a team that ensures the needs of ALL members are accounted for. I'd like to recommend that you find some really strong owners of each type of car to moderate and assist in the areas of their vehicles. Do that and I'll join! You can even forget the t-shirt! ;-)
ColdwaterHotrod
From my understanding TEAM SHELBY Club allows for ALL Shelby vehicles made (even from other manufactures) to join the club & they will have their own designated forum area/section. The current S197 (Mustang) platform that are cars are built on will be going away soon once the new body style comes out in 2010 so why have a club name that will soon be going away like the Fox body or S97 platforms? Sticking with the common theme of TEAM SHELBY puts everyone under the same umbrella who owns a Shelby & since this is now a “Partnership” with SAI there is no need for them to rebuild their forum board when they can merge the two together & then some. Truthfully I like the idea & hope to meet even more folks that join up, including the Dodge Vipers owners to the Ford 427 AC Cobra boys. It should get real exciting at regional events around the country. This concept doesn’t leave out any Shelby owner no matter what brand they drive & to me that’s equality among Shelby owners. Oh, did I mention That Carroll is joining the technical age? That’s right! He will now also have a section or question link where you can ask Carroll Shelby a question & get a reply from him. It might not actually be his hands on the keyboard, but I’m sure his secretary will be reading your questions & waiting to type up his response for you to read. Now how exciting is that? Way cool in my book. Wait until the press release comes out later today, there is also much more news coming in the weeks & months ahead, but it’s only fair that Robert & Sharon tell what’s coming. I’ve already said too much as it is & will probably get one of these for saying all this

ShelbyPilot
I REALLY hope, the Shelbyautos.com forum doesn't go away. Frankly there is a much larger Shelby GT community there with much more information about the car and many wonderful stories. It may be unfortunate that the Shelby GT owners aren't much into stangsunleashed or the club formerly known as S197OA. But why is that. Regional events and regional clubs? Doesn't SAAC already do this. I turned down an invite this past Sunday to join the LA SAAC. Mostly I declined because I really don't have to time to participate in a club as I think a member should. I really don't have time to participate in two clubs. I hope this new venture and the SAAC don't come into direct competition. That may be unfortunate. I know I am coming off negatively but I have been a member of this forum and the S197OA long enough to have valid concerns. I originally joined when I was in line for a GT500 and then I decided on a Shelby GT/SC instead. I have posted my stories and advice in the Shelby GT forum and once and a while in the GT500 area. I have gained from and given back to the forum. I am just concerned.
