Dealer Bull$#!t

Hey Guys,

What are dealers doing around the country? In Saskatchewan, the dealer nixed the 'list' they had going since spring '05 (18+ deposits, 10 more waiting), and decided to go with a bid system. They're getting 15 cars, and with the high demand, the top 15 bids get the cars.

I know of a dealership in Edmonton, Alberta, that is doing the same, and with Alberta's hot economy, is expecting $80,000+ per car.

Just lay off the idea of purchasing the car for about 6 months. Let all the speculators and lunatics pay $100k for theirs, then buy yours at sticker or less. Trust me it will happen. They are building too many of these cars for them to hold their initial ripoff ADM's.

I do not know for sure, but I believe there are 27 SVT dealers in Canada, and it sounds like they get 10-15 cars each, depending on previous sales etc. I've seen it posted elsewhere that Canada is only getting 255 cars, so maybe someone else knows?

What upsets me greatly is that this dealer that I know just cancels the list; they had 20ish deposits, and 10 more on a 'list'. They then were told they were only getting 15 cars. I was 18th. I was told that I would be bumped to #3 on next year's list. No prob. That was two weeks ago. Last week, after finding about the incr. from 7,000 to 9,000 cars, I phoned for an update. I was then told of this 'change' with the list. The reason, I am told, is that 'longtime loyal customers to the dealership' had not heard of the car, but want one now, so to be fair to everybody, they are opening up the cars for bid.

:hysterical:

Tell me that this is not the biggest pile of $#!+ you have ever heard!

I also heard 300+/- a few. 27 SVT dealers I believe is accurate but allotment will be based on past history/volume of SVT cars. So, some may get 5, others 15 (I hear is max. per) Mine got there max of 15 BUT have 14 people waiting for spot #16 if it comes available.

Not sure when delivery date is. Whenever it comes it comes. I also built a 1965 Shelby Cobra. Still have my 1994 Mustang GT I bought from Keystone as well. Makes a nice lawn ornament because I have a Turbo Beetle. Just can't part with it. Been on the lawn for 7 years now and the car is like new and loaded!

Tnx for the comment on the plate. That was the best I could think of at the time.

Very Nice! :yup: A Co-worker of mine tried to get the same in Ontario a week after I got my 07SHELBY. No luck.

Instead he got SHELBY07. We're going to look real 'cute' together in the parking lot at work!

Interesting. I have a plate I bought when they introduced the 7 digit's. Now, if I do buy one seeing how the dealer won't budge on their $5000 markup, even though other's were lucky in persuading them to budge. Just seems unethical, they can get $5000 from some and only $500 from other's at the same dealership. Has to be some law against that. Will be getting in touch with a lawyer I think on that.

ELIMN8R Seems fitting for this car. Funny thing though the wouldn't allow ELIMN8U Saying it could be seen as raciest

In Manitoba there are only 7 letters/numbers in the plate.

I see Ontario has 8 characters

7SHELBY was also a choice but looked a bit odd to me.

Tnx,
