wildcat
Couldn't agree more! I have a 25 minute commute to work, and with the Shelby, I LOVE leaving for work in the morning! Daily driving in this car is the perfect "hobby" since I have a blast and it doesn't take away any time from the family. A win/win!
rpretzel
My Shelby is not a daily driver, but I will take her to work occasionally. Unfortunately, my commute to work is only 5 miles. On those days, I usually end up just driving around the business park for a while, so I have time to enjoy the ride.

I envy you guys.I'm still hung up about taking her out in the rain. Got a new GO coming next week and have to decide: Liberate her and drive her when wet, or keep the chassis happy and dry and me not so happy. I need to lay on the couch and work this out. Between the Florida afternoon showers and the sprinkler systems I am between a rock and a wet place!

My 70' Mach's starting to get pissed off sitting in the garage !! Well I don't drive mine to work-- too many idiots in my parking garage. I do drive it on the weekends a fair amount though. I think my classic 'stang is feeling like yours. I actually did not enter the '69 in any shows this year. I'm a little disappointed with myself over it since she always does very well. Better planning next year, I guess!
CobraCrazy
I drive mine to work (a community college) once-twice a week (40 mile round trip). It makes the same old drive fun each and every time (if I'm not looking at the gas guage), but having it in the parking lot scares the crap out of me. I refuse to do that, thus limits my driving even more. Good friend of mine once said "you gotta get your first dent or scratch, then and only then will you beging to enjoy the car"...... NOT! I have the same problem. My wife and I took her out for dinner a while back. I kept staring out the window the entire time. I was miserable. I just can't seem to leaver her anywhere out of my line of sight. I'm thinking I might have to hire a body guard. He could live in the back seat, I'd feed him Pringles and Jolt cola, his name would be Jeff.

whazen1
Glad to see that I am not the only wierd one in the group. I really want to drive mine more but just as you guys, I won't let her out of my sight. I went to Subway on Saturday to get lunch and parked it at the end of the lot. I couldn't even concentrate on what I wanted because I kept looking out the window to see if somebody was going to go near it or steal it. I know that I probably don't get to enjoy the car enough because of that but I want it to look like it is in showroom condition all the time. I have had it 6 months and 4 days and it has 589 miles on it. It has got cought in the rain here in Florida a couple of times so I have had to keep the undercarriage clean and that is a pain in the ---. Anyway, I love it and will probable never part with it. I just need to take it out for more fun.

Well it doesn't matter how careful you are. I was filling up the tank and a woman backed into me. I didn't have time to do anything. Talk about the first scratch, I have to replace the right fender and repair the hood. Sad to say but I don't feel the same way about the car! whazen1
That sucks!! I am sure that you will find a good repair shop to get it fixed and it will be just like new. If figures that no matter how careful we are, they back into the nice cars and leave all the junk rice burners alone.

She won't drive it to work because there is no place to park it that is far enough away from everyone else. Whenever we plan to drive anywhere, she's the first one to say, "Is there going to be anywhere to park where we can keep an eye on her?" Secondo
I sold my old jalopy that I couldn't drive that much (the '72) and enjoy the new one so much more. I've owned it now for 6 months and put over 10,000 miles on it during that time. "Gotta drive 'em!!" At first I couldn't keep my eyes off of it but now I'm back to 'normal.' It's still my baby though and park it away from the masses as much as I could. No dings so far!! SexyStang loves it too!! :happy feet: :D

Andrew DeSpirito
I've had mine for seven weeks now, just crossed 4,500 miles. She's my daily driver, and today was her first real rainstorm. I gotta tell ya - Alloy looks really good with rainfall beading on the freshly acryclic'd (no wax!!) surface! Of course, gotta wash her good this weekend, but it's worth it. I bought this car to drive, and I intend to DRIVE her! I'll be "sick" whenever it snows (only a few times a year here in DC), but rain doesn't stop me. And it's true - once you get the first rock chip, you can breathe easy. I've got one on the driver's side on the fender, just ahead of the wheel well. I figure once a year I'll take her in and have her detailed...and after the winter, after I have the chips fixed, I'll get a 3M ClearBra to make my life easier. Of course, I'm trying to convince the wife I should have the Tungsten stripes painted on...but that's a different story!
