EXPcustom
Mods if this is inapropriate please delete I am not trying to spam but just see if there is intrest I do not work for this company in anyway, I have heard nothing but good things from these guys. Some of you may or may not know that if you have a OEM Nav in your GT500 it can be modded to watch TV and play DVDs. Other car forums have arranged group buys to get a 50 dollar discount off the unit, a order of 6 minimum would have to be placed to get a discount, this is at least what I read on the other forums. I was wondering if there is any intrest from anyone here in getting pricing on a group buy because either way I was going to order a unit. I can get details and pricing Monday and see if the owner can post here to arrange this as he has done on other forums. GT500FLYBOY
I think I may be interested in this. Let me know the cost. What options have you found for a DVD and camera?
Oh8SnakeDriver
I would be interested also. Mike
EXPcustom
I will contact them tommorow (Monday) and report back. I know it allows a back up camera and can take a OEM TV tuner as well as play DVDs but am not sure if it has to be plugged in to an external player. SLB8SNK
Got to watch this mod as this is illegal in some (most?) states. I know in MI you can not have a TV/DVD anywhere in the front compartment. They are considered visual distractions! Ever wonder why the OEM does not put them in front anywhere? Dropping__Chronic
Because nothing says safety like having a movie playing on your DVD player that is in the middle of your dashboard while puttering around in your 500hp car. The only time that is allowed to my knowledge is if the DVD player is only functional while the car is parked. I think this mod is a bad/stupid idea at the end of the day. Besides, most of the people I see with DVD players in their cars look like morons that belong behind bars.
iceman
I'd be interested if I could get the whole Nav. system. I am planning on eventually putting in an aftermarket set up to do this but if i could get the OEM version I'd take a good look at it. I want to have something for my son to do on longer trips since he's just 3 it can be a little hard on him at times to make the 4+ hour trips in a car for a gathering. We've been using a little portable DVD now and I finally got one with an iPod hook up so it's not that urgent but I am still interested. Not so I can view porn while puttering around in my 500hp car
EXPcustom
What you do with this mod in your car is your business I take it if you can afford a GT500 chances are you probably are not a law breaker. I am putting the offer out there its up to you how you use it and to know your local and state laws. There are no federal laws banning dvd players in the front of your car but its good to see the nanny states watching out for mine and yours best intrests. I will get back with the list of mods and prices as soon as I hear back from the company.

Besides, most of the people I see with DVD players in their cars look like morons that belong behind bars. You must not have 2 young kids messing with each other in the back seat of your car most of the time Whatever it takes to get them to behave I'll do. My Pioneer Avic D3 uses the freaking navs GPS to lockout viewing while the cars moving I am sure someone will figure out a way around it. The camera option is enough reason to do this. Its helps backing into the water box as well as not backing over something or worse, someone. Ive got a Mito bumblebee and its so small you would never know its back there. Love it.
