SGT Shifter nob

Recommended Posts

My shifter nob is a plain, white cueball style nob. I was at a car show last weekend and saw one with "Hurst" printed on it. They are both original. Mine is car #461 and his was 700ish. He said he had seen cars produced after his that didn't have the writing on it so he figured it was an early model thing. The fact that mine is earlier than is disproves that theory. What do you have? :waiting:

The ones I seen didn't have Hurst on them.

We had 3 and none had Hurst on them.

I did see a pic of one somewhere where the owner changed his with one that said Hurst.

Did he buy it new or perhaps used where he thought it was original?

He bought it new, locally. It really doesn't make a difference to me either way, I'm just curious.

Hmmmm....I thought SGT's all had 5 speeds

This is a good example of what happens when we mix up all the Shelby models on this new official forum!! :glare:

Some of these guys have one of each. A SGT and a GT500, so this happens from time to time. Plus some of the mods can be done on both cars.

I'll try one more time!

THE SGT IS A 5-SPEED AND DOES NOT HAVE H_U_R_S_T ON THE KNOB!

This guy, or someone at the dealer, installed it or wrote it on the side in crayon.

:banghead:

I'll try one more time too. Some Shelby GT cars did in fact come with H_U_R_S_T on the nob. I have seen it personnaly, at the dealership. Mine didn't but some did. I was asking if anyone else has seen this.

Yes they did, "mix it up" but the GT500 guys didn't talked what they didn't know about. No more that I would in their forum. I enjoy reading the GT500 posts but I don't interject what I don't know or post comments that don't add value to the topic being discussed. Unless of course you want me to walk on over there to start.

I guess you are making an exception in this case then with this post .

When someone posts in a thread to add an opinion in a positive manner it should be welcomed without resentment. Just because they may not have the same car as you doesn't give you the right to tell them to stay out of the discussion .

In Mastermech1's case ...he does in fact have a Shelby GT.

I've seen these cars from early to late. I've yet to see or heard of Hurst on the side of the ball. But anything is possible. My guess would be someone swiped it from the dealer and the dealer replaced it. I've seen these in after market catalogs with the Hurst logo in black and white. We have an early car, #0065 and ours is the same as yours. My guess is that they didn't want to wait for SAI to replace it, so they just put an after market on. and told the customer it was stock. Some people have a hard time believing that the Hurst is the stock shifter on the car. Oh well.

That's quite likely.

My son and I test drove an SGT in August. I bought my son's 2006 V6 last Janurary from the same salesman. My son did like how much better the Hurst Shifter felt in the SGT over his stock shifter. So, be bought a Hurst shifter for his car. It looked identical to the one in the SGT, EXCEPT, the side of the knob said "HURST".

It looked so good, that I swicthed it we my blank knob, hoping he wouldn't notice. He did. :banghead: Dang it!!

So. I might have to buy one aftermarket.

+1

I've never seen or heard of this and I've personally seen about 30-40 SGTs from #33 to #4211 I think and none had the logo on the ball. Not saying it didn't happen, not saying SAI as was pointed out found themselves short one shifter and ran to Pepboys, but it's not standard and no one thus far has ever seen it either.

I have seen 2 SGT's one automatic one standard, the standard had the white cue ball without "H-U-R-S-T" on the side
