I agree, this makes no sense, paint hold? like what, not sticking to the metal? HUmmm I would be pissed but do not give up. Guys have waited a lot longer than that, but it is well worth it once you get it. Good Luck.

Yup...Dans500 is right. Hang in there. Seems as though something isn't right. Better to get it right before you take possession rather than get it ASAP and then be unhappy because that something isn't right.

Think of it as quality control. Its on the way..it'll happen !!

Well, hopefully yours wont get stuck on a RR car in a blizzard and then finally show up at the dealer with a good size dent in the fender and a blown radiator.

But you know what, I would not give up this car for anything else on the road.....well, any thing under a $100k anyway. Point is, things will work out and if you really wanted the car to begin with, it will be worth the wait.

You might try calling SVT with you VIN number. They were able to help me with information that my dealer and district rep could not get directly. Might provide some insight. Knowing what is going on does help the wait.

I can remember standing at the top of Mouna Kea and screaming to the world the day I finally got a VIN after waiting 6 months from placing a firm order and deposit. Still took 3 more months after that. The waiting is awful and will make you question your resolve in the decision to own the car. Once you get it, you will understand the pride in driving a car other can't have or don't have the patience and persistance it takes to own. Very few people walked in to a Ford dealer and bought a GT500 on a whim off the showroom floor. Thats what the Shelby GT is for.

Hang in there, shelbymarie. It will all be worth it when you finally get the car! I waited for over 2 1/2 yrs. for mine, for reasons I won't get into. I wouldn't have wished the wait on friend or foe but I can tell you I would go through it all again just to be where I am now. " Proud owner for 3 weeks, of a 2008 Ebony & Alloy GT500.

What color is your car? Mines White and NONE of the Plastice parts match the Body parts. i wish they would have held mine for that paint Issue!! Now a Dealer is going to have to deal with it!!

I heard about this.

I am very disappointed that they let your car go out the door like that.

Anyone have information on this paint problem or problems AAI?

If not can someone get info from reliable sources at AAI?

Any owners or dealers seeing paint problems on early 2008 cars?

I suspect there may be problems with some early cars and some may have been released before this was caught. In particular very small blisters that eventually pop and lift on the edges of body panels mostly on the plastic parts.

Thanks,

Bill

I would'nt be surprised if they build a completely new car and this is why it is taking so long. If the car had a pink tint, then they would have to repaint the car. What about the door jams and under the hood. They would have to disassemble the car to do the paint job right. Who wants to see pink inside the trunk. On the other hand! This could make the car more collectable someday, if all this is documented.

I would get in touch with a factory rep. and have a new car built.

I went through a similar situation. They will NOT add an additional allocation unit for your dealer. If he will not order an additional car (or does not have one to order) you can either take the car as delivered or repaired or not take it. There is no building a replacement without extraordinary means and Ford HQ involvement. Very difficult to do on this car. For normal production, you would be right.

If Ford determines the car is fixable at the plant they will repair it and if it meets their quality standards they will ship it to the dealer. If it doesn't pass the quality standards they will reclassify the vehicle and put it in fleet service (employee or leasee drives it) and then sold used or donated to a race team etc down the road. On the GT500s if they reclassify the car they will give the dealer another allocation to order a new vehicl for their customer. Doesn't happen very often.
