Just placed my order

Well, after months of refusing to pay the $20,000 over sticker all the dealers in Colorado apparently insist on getting, I finally found a small rural dealer out of state that agreed on $5,000 over. Not MSRP, but I haven't been able to find anything less than $10,000 over anywhere so I jumped on it.

He says that the car will likely be produced in the 1st quarter of 2008, so I still have some waiting to do, but at least I have a car locked in!!

I have a quick question, I see a lot of references to DORA, along with getting a VIN and production date. What is DORA exactly?

Thanks all!

Scott

Nice job, yeah I found some CO dealers to be on the expensive side too but I did eventually find one. Good to see some more CO folks here.

Congrats on your order :happy feet:

Machine gun Kitty is in CO as well

DORA - Dealer Order Receipt Acknowledged - Ford sends confirmation to the dealer that it acknowledges the order and the dealer is entitled to the allocation. about two weeks later you get your VIN. I ordered 8/15 and my car landed in the rail yard on Tuesday October 2nd and still has not moved from the railyard to the dealer (about 30 miles apart) Railyard in Mira Loma (by Riverside) - dealer is in Irvine, California

To add to this...you should be able to get your DORA within a day of your dealer submitting the order...your dealer should be able to print it out and give you a copy (actually I got mine the same day). They aren't normally asked for these by customers, so they may look at you funny.

Good luck.

Thanks for all the responses!!

Yeah, the wait won't be fun, but after all the searching I did for a dealer that would accept a reasonable offer, it is a relief to finally have one locked in.

I initially was on the prowl for a KR, but the only dealers I found that had an allocation were on EBay, and the auctions were upwards of $70,000 over MSRP. That puts it close to Ford GT territory!! Anyway, I quickly realized that wasn't going to happen and began searching in earnest for the GT500 instead.

I already received a "kitchen pass" to go to Barrett-Jackson this year, so I fully expect to watch Ron Pratt drop $600,000 or more on GT500KR #1. Good on him. If I ever hit the lottery I'll give him some competition, but for now I'll just be content to watch him get another one. :banghead:

Thanks again for all the responses!
