Can someone tell me why every Nissan Altima and Maxima driver wants to race me? What is their deal? Maybe because they went the "responsible" route and bought the 4 door sedan, and have something to prove? Mustang owners don't "need" to prove anything... we know we're fast. Congrats on your GT, by the way! - Josh

2005GTP
As you can see from my screen name, I used to own a GP. What a joke of car compared to my Mustang. Oh, yeah, thats another group of people that want to race all the time. I knew better with my GP not to waste my time with a Stang.

Secondo
I recently picked up my 2008 Mustang GT and need help understanding other drivers on the road. Can someone tell me why every Nissan Altima and Maxima driver wants to race me? What is their deal? Welcome!!! Join the club!! I just bought my 2005 GT Mustang this year and ever since I've bought it, everyone wants to race me too- Including this dork with a Maxima that seems to always appear on the weekends and wants to race!! The first race took me off guard. He jumped me on the highway and my inexperience at the time got the best of me as he and his friends gave me the thumbs down as they went by. The latest race I spanked him hard. He was egging me on the back roads but wouldn't race me at a light- which I wanted to smoke him bad and he knew it. I wouldn't let him get away so I followed him onto the highway and next to him at about 80, I downshifted to 3rd and put it to the floor. Gave him and his buddy the thumbs down and pulled on him to about 130mph then looked in my rearview mirror to see a speck of Maxima in it!!! I also smoked a Hemi Charger and a dude in a GTO chickened out!

ShelbyDude
I have more problems with Toyota's and Honda's. They don't want to race. The problem is they don't MOVE!!! Ever notice that it seems EVERY Toyota or Honda is always driving along about 5 - 10 mph BELOW the speed limit? Especially when taking off at a light? Do these cars just have zero power and won't go or is it just every driver that has one? We need a law that allows you to just push these idiots out of your way when driving below the speed limits! svtbird91
We need a law that allows you to just push these idiots out of your way when driving below the speed limits! That would require a different kind of mod for the front end ,maybe a "James Bond" kinda mod with press of a button a plow pops up for you. Wouldn't that be great ! Wouldn't that be great ! Yes it would! Just shove them off to the side! I tried that once many years ago. It started out funny as hell, but didn't end to good. Had some idiot pull out in front me and just started putting along. One thing lead to another and the chase was on! I was in a full size 1990 GMC Jimmy. He was in a little honda accord. We got to the next light and I just got up to his bumper, put in in 4X4 and proceeded to shove his azz into the intersection. He was squirming in the seat, pushing like crazy on his breaks and hanging on like mercy to the wheel! Nothing he could do. LOL I was pushing him right into the intersection. Picture someone sitting in their car while it is being pushed while they are pushing the break to the floor and hanging on to the steering wheel for dear life and there is nothing they can do to stop it. KCMO-GT500
found on cnn this morning; yea, if you're higher than a kite, you might not want to race someone to a parking spot Car racing for parking spot smashes into store * Story Highlights * 14-year-old girl inside store injured, police say * Driver "just couldn't get herself stopped," police officer says * Car stops 20 yards inside T.J. Maxx store * Driver, 37, impaired but not by alcohol, officer says BELLEVUE, Washington (AP) -- A driver rushing to beat someone else to a parking spot slammed into a department store Friday night, injuring a 14-year-old girl inside the building, police said. The girl was being treated at Overlake Hospital for scrapes and bruises, police Cpl. Marcia Harnden said, while the driver, a 37-year-old woman from Bellevue, was arrested for investigation of driving under the influence. "She was just racing to get in and beat the other person to the parking spot," Harnden said. "She said she stepped on the accelerator and she just couldn't get herself stopped after that." The car smashed through the automatic sliding glass doors of a T.J. Maxx store and took out several clothing racks. It came to a stop 20 yards inside the store. The driver exhibited "obvious signs of impairment," but not from alcohol, Harnden said. Toxicology results were not expected for at least a month. darkside
Thats where the Germans have it better than us. In Germany the left lane is the FAST lane on the autobahn. If you come up on someone who is going slow, you just flash the brights and they are supposed to get out of your way. If they don't and you hit them, it is there fault. No plow needed to mess with the aerodynamics. I remember doing about 120 in a civilian vehicle belonging to my unit and having a high end BMW 8-Series and a Mercedes sedan come up behind me. I got over to the right and they went by me at at least 150. It felt like I was going backwards.

Can someone tell me why every Nissan Altima and Maxima driver wants to race me? What is their deal? Just feel sorry for the little fellas. There not trying to beat you. They just want to see how far they are behind the curve. Then go home and start counting their pennies to see if they can get some good old AMERICAN horsepower. nachtkriechen
I wish we had an Autobahn We as Americans are too STUPID to have an autobahn. I too was stationed in Germany, and "darkside" is exactly right. If you get hit from behind in the "fast lane" it's your own fault. It's also a "privilege" to drive on the Autobahn as well. It costs quite a bit of money to get your license, and tail-gating someone is a jailable offense. Germans are VERY serious about their driving. However, here in America, if we had an Autobahn, you'd get some idiot (like we've been talking about) that uses the old "this is America, I can drive slow in this lane if I want to" bit, and it would screw it up for everyone else. Conversely, there are those idiots out there that want to drive 10 to 20 mph OVER the speed limit and if you don't get out of their way, they get so close you can't see their headlights in your rear-view. The Autobahn also has speed limits in places, but, in others, there are none. Just as it is here, if you're caught well above the posted speed limit on the Autobahn, you can be put in jail. Driving at such high rates of speed as on the Autobahn, takes responsible driving on everyones part. We as Americans (as a whole), don't take responsibility, we lay blame on someone else. An Autobahn in the US won't happen until EVERYONE changes their mentality towards driving from a selfish child-like perspective, to a courteous and responsible one. - Josh
