65427cobra
Guys, The dealer certification fee that the dealers had to pay in order to order the Shelby GT500...was that a one time fee for the 2007-2008 production years or do the dealers have to pay that fee for both the 2007 model year and the 2008 model year? Is anybody aware of any other fees that would have been added to the 2008 Shelby. Long story but to summarize I got a 2007 Shelby from a dealer and now my brother is getting his 2008 Shelby...the dealer is telling him he has to buy a $2500 tool and wants to pass this on to my brother. I would say a $2500 ADM is still a good deal and get it in writing.
rpretzel
The certification fee is a one-time fee good for the 2007, 2008 and 2009 model years. I've never heard of any dealer having to buy a $2,500 tool, but if $2,500 is all that the dealer is adding to your brother's MSRP, I say jump on it. gsharapa
Updating my post as I confirmed that the Ford dealers did pay a one time fee of $ 1,500.00 to be a SVT dealer if they were not already one. Also, no special service tool fees. ________________________________________________________________________________ __ No, they required nothing new. ShelbyDude
The certification fee is a one-time fee good for the 2007, 2008 and 2009 model years. I've never heard of any dealer having to buy a $2,500 tool, but if $2,500 is all that the dealer is adding to your brother's MSRP, I say jump on it. The fee is $1,500 and good for ONLY the 2007 and 2008 model years. It does not cover a 2009 model year if they build it for 09. Whether another fee is charged for 09 or not we do not know and we do not know if 09 is for certain or not. Ford has not announced anything yet. As for the $2,500 tool I do not know, BUT, the dealer is required to buy any tools that are required to work on this car. Whether this dealer had to buy any tools or not I would not know, but if they did then they should have been purchased for the 2007 model year to be able to get and sell any 07's. So they would have already paid for that in 07. I do not know of any NEW tools that are required specifically for the 2008 model year in addition to any 2007 model year tools that would have been required. 65427cobra
Update, I called the dealer to clear this up as this is not the treatment I got when I purchased the my 07. I don't think he really knew and assumed there would be a certification fee for each model year and to make things worse he quoted the wrong amount to my Brother. I suggested he call his regional folks for clarification and I did share the feedback you all had given me. I did not mean to start a bashing session against the dealer, he is a pretty good guy. He is selling both the 07 and the 08 at MSRP. Just a small town dealer with not a lot of experience in selling these types of cars as most of his business is trucks. Thanks for the quick response, as usually you guys know more than most dealers.
