brands5.0
Wondering if any one eles will take there car from the dealer to the strip. HOPEFULY i get my car on a weekday so i can go to test and tune that same week. Would love to run some high 11's frist couple week there out. My GT500 will see many many 1/4 mile passes
DVS2XS
Mine will probably hit the dyno before the strip. I want to seat the rings and get used to the shifter/trans/clutch and the wireless throttle, (and change the oil) before knocking out a few 1/4 mile passes. But like you, I can't wait to take it to the strip!!!
faststang
I think i will also bring it to the dyno first to test and tune. After putting on thr first 500mile's then im sure i will hit the track! BEST OF LUCK TO ALL!!
JETSOLVER
100% fluid changes at about 500 miles then on it. I drove the 97 quite hard in the early days and it has rewarded me well.
DVS2XS
Like Jetsolver, I am a big believer that the fluids need changing early. I change mine at 50, 500, 1500 miles before falling into a normal interval. And the engine needs to be run hard early to seal it up, with coast downs to clean it out. Ring seal is everything! Generally, a good break-in shows up on the dyno and lives longer. Don't drive it like you hate it, but don't follow the manual either. A thread on break-in procedures is probably a good idea. LSR
I will break-in/seat rings and a couple of oil changes 1st. Would like to have the car dynod stock, then run it. A rear tire change is a must for sure to anyone taking thr GT500 to the strip. Then go with a cat back system, and possibly a CAI, tune, and dyno. Then back to the track. 11sec. in the 1/4 is my goal, which should be easy.

I'll run it for a few miles, baseline dyno and then beat the everloving crap out of it at the track :happy feet:
brands5.0
The rings will be seated on the ride home from the dealer. Do a couple hadr accel. thru 1,2,3 and some hard decel. 3,2. Couple miles drop the oil then off to the track
JETSOLVER
A thread on break-in procedures is probably a good idea. Good idea. High performance cars benifit from all sorts of things, for example brake bedding in etc. We will hear lots of different opinions but some synthesis is possible. Hopefully Ford will do something like the SVT hotline, from which I got lots of careing, thoughtful advice. They even sent the original spring rates and specs to Eibac so I could match the chassis tuning as close to factory while lowering the car! mach1fever
alot of guys were having problems with the terms trying to beat on it out of the box. The factory now runs engines to seat the seals properly. Take it easy on it for the first 500 and change the fluids then romp on it. BTW if your looking for numbers on your shelby they will very a lot with mileage. 5-10k is the sweet spot.
