1badsho
S197 is the code term that Ford uses for mustangs at the assembly plant hence forth .. this forum .... S197
mrfarmdog
I believe S197 identifies the production line that the Shelby GT500s are produced on at the Auto Alliance plant in Flat Rock MI. If you tour the plant you will see S197 painted on portions of the assembly line.

YZD263
Anybody have a cheat sheet on the other model year code numbers? i.e. 64-66, 67-68, 69-70, 71-73, etc... The previous generation (1994-2004) was referred to as the SN-95, the one before (1979-1993) as the Fox. I have no idea for the earlier models.
