Given that, I need some guidance on the proper lift sequence and then placement of jack stands to safely get this car off the ground.......do not want to make a mistake!! Thanks for your help. SLB8SNK Posted September 19, 2007 Report Share Posted September 19, 2007 I live in Michigan and having had a 69 Boss 302 during the winter, I did nothing to winterize. What I did was cleaned it, and covered it, but would also start it up and let it run till warm every few weeks. If it was a nice day, I may have rolled it out of the garage to run. Personally, unless you plan on store for months (4-6) and not start it, then I would go the extra effort. Michigan winters vary greatly and there are many times were we do not get the snow, just cold, and still worth a nice drive on a sunny day. Just my thoughts. Winter is fast approaching Denver (got snow in the mountains last weekend ) and winter doesn't usually pull out until May/June. Makes for a long storage season, and a short driving season. Yeah, we get lots of nice days in the winter, but the roads are all covered with gravel from the snow removal process. I'm not driving in that. Don't I know it and my car is probably not going to be delivered for another couple of months. Doubt I will get much time to drive it if any before the snow hits here. Hey Grabber……that is exactly why I want it off the ground, I do not want to worry about those tires. I will start it occasionally to make sure things stays lubed, but that’s it. I'm in New Hampshire which is one of the snowier areas in the country. I got the car last October, drove it about 1100 miles and parked it in the garage for 5 months. No jack stands, I just started it every Saturday and let it run up to temp for about 15 minutes. No flat spots, no issues whatsoever. As long as you check the tire pressures every couple of weeks you won't have any problems. You actually can hurt the car if you leave it on jack stands for that long, especially on the pinch welds. They hold fine for a day or two but can stress after longer than that and stretch the metal. Think about the weight dispersement are of the tire, and then think of the weight dispersement on the jack stand. More pounds of weight per square inch on the stand, than on the rubber. Do what you want it's your car, just wanted to let you know that I had no problems with flat spots at all. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Not much more than another month on the road for me. Then, it's storage time until mid to late April. I stored other cars before and all I did was clean them, top off fuel and disconnect the battery.
